Children watch movies differently from adults.

a child watching this sees bright colors and things that are fun
an adult watching this sees psychoanalysis the growing up/transition from child to teen, and (depending on the person) nostalgia.

Pixar's suits (The brain trust) were scared to death that this movie would be too complex for its intended audience (children)

That's another reason why I can't imagine watching this as a kid. But you're probably right that kids what things differently then adults.

But if I had kids and I had to pick a movie to show it to them it would definitely be The Incredibles. And amazingly enough the dub in my language I find to actually be better then the English original, somehow. There are a few things that don't really translate well like the names of the superheroes but all the other stuff is just better. My biggest dislike is the mom's voice but I'm probably gonna get shit for that one.

By the way is it true they're making a sequel to Inside Out? Also why is it called that in the first place?

there is no formal announcement of a sequel with Docter offering the only possibility saying, "Never say never"

given the success of the movie, and it's Disney/Pixar, a sequel will be made, but given Star Wars in 2 months, It would not surprise me of Disney has gagged everyone on other projects to keep customer/media attention 100% fixated on Star Wars.

Inside Out is the most grown up out of all mainstream american animations and probably a landmark nobody's going to recognize until a few years from now. If it had done away with the pretension to also be a kid's movie, it would have been the best movie of the decade.

It's better than that. This is arguably the first of its kind that's not a kids' film with a couple of gags thrown in for the adults but a film for teens and adults in a kids' movie costume.

I moved twice as a kid and it socially ruined me. I can make friends and am pretty much a Normie on all fronts but I'm too scared to make friends with anyone because I think they'll leave or I will.
