Wait, is Jonah Hill's right hand keeping his pants up? that means his pants were slipping.
That means he was actually losing weight.
He only got those subway sandwiches as part of a diet plan. A plan that was WORKING.
We've been mocking him all this time while he was actually improving himself. We were so cruel by bullying him like we did that he gave up, and now his obesity is a reflection of all our hate.

It means he gained weight to the point of over-exerting the elastic on his pants. The elastic no longer holds it's flexible quality, hence when he puts on the pants they just expand, with any movement making them slide down.

If anything, it means he's getting fatter.

One thing that happens with obese people is a delusion of weight-loss when their clothes feel a little loose.

The looseness can happen from a variety of different things such as retaining less water for a few days (fat and obese people tend to have a lower ejection fraction of their hearts meaning fluids can't be expelled as efficiently through urination. On hot days, the obese tend to sweat easier and thus more water weight lost.), or it could be an odd phenomenon in which weight is packed on around the abdomen and eventually fall like a fleshy apron or even skirt. As this outwork bulk is added to the body, it will create a fold or almost a recess under the gut and many fat or obese people will feel a loosening in their pants and believe (incorrectly) that they're losing weight.

I'd wager its not only a combination of these factors but also that he wears his pants around his hips rather than his waist similarly to how many in his age group does. Basically trying to dress "cool" by wearing ill-fitting clothes like was popular during the late 90's and early 00's.

Poor fuckers life is definitely gonna be short if he doesn't do something about his weight though. And he shouldn't go skelly mode like he did for that week or whatever; should straight up go for a power-lifter build. Probably won't work in cinema again, but at least he'd be alive, healthier, and could still be a fat fuck if he wanted.
