John Connor was never going to work out as a character. Nobody wants to see a guy give pep talks about fighting toasters. Terminator 1 worked because John Connor was left off screen and the focus of the plot was protecting a fetus that would be important later.

I like 3 and that makes a trilogy. I like that john too. I love the gore and the ending is so perfect with the music. Oddly enough Arnold is the worst part of the movie, can't have the good guy robot act like a robot, it needs personality.
