Man, I get depressed every time I see Harrison Ford make a public appearance.

You find yourself wondering why, for God's sake, can't you have the decency to not be high in front of millions of people?

And you just know no matter how embarrassing it gets, none of his handlers or chums will say a goddamn word to him,

I really do worry about the guy. It's a pretty open secret that he was shit-faced on the Star Wars set when he was injured (and Lucasfilm's insurance didn't pay out his medical costs because of it).

Is he just having a big piss-take or something? He just seems so monumentally jaded at this point that it's sort of sad.

Yes. He doesn't know what to say. He can perform somebody elses words but he is not creative himself. This leads him to being shy infront of audiences when he is himself and nervous that he will be mocked and disliked.
