Actually, the reason MI6 is fine with James Bond movies is largely due to the fact it's all fiction.

The best agents are actually female, because they are capable of developing assets in the field much faster and more efficiently.

Also, they are also much more effective assassins, and can get close to targets with a greater ease, though assassination isn't really called for with field operatives, contrary to what you see in the movies.

A female James Bond would be more realistic, but given the fact Bond is a cartoon character, it really wouldn't work.
