My friends you have it all wrong-the prequels are much more exciting than the original movies. And I love The Phantom meance and always shall. It gave me a rebirth as far as interest in Star wars goes and I loved how the film introduced new characters aside from the ones we are familiar with. Liam Neeson, Ray Parks, and Ian McDiarmid are what made this film for me. I do admit disappointment with AotC though. For some reason it failed to deliver as a follow up to Episode I.

Perhaps in my case over exposure to the original trilogy has made me yearn more-and become attached to-all new adventures without the characters who featured in the original three films. I like seeing the Jedi in their heyday as well as seeing how the Sith were able to overthrow this noble Order and the Republic it served.

The Phantom Menace is an excellent work of fiction. And the casting of Pernilla August as Shmi Skywalker was an excellent choice. And who can forget the great Ian McDiarmid in his scene stealing role(s) as Darth Sidious/Senator Palpatine?

Well I am going to do a complete turnaround here- I appreciate all of the movies but the classics hold up well after over 20 years. I do not know if the prequels will achieve the same thing 20 years from now.

I was 15 I think. I was hyped for that shit for months before it was released. After Ep1 I did not go and watch Ep2. Still haven't to this very day.

I did go and watch Ep3 though, because of the birth of Darth Vader scene and a friend bragged me. Shit was horrible and I have forgotten the entire rest of it allready.

have no problems with it being overtly light hearted as it was meant to introduce a lot of characters and events that were only hinted at in the original film. For some strange reason I just do not care much for the second prequel. It was-for me-at any trate-a huge letdown. Episode I gets a lot of undeserved bashing from posters and that is just unfair. If they want to see a kid- who will grow up to be an antichrist-actually acting like an antichrist-then I suggest watching The Omen.

Qui Gon Jinn is the first ever true Jedi Knight to carry a Star Wars movie for most of the film. When he dies at the hands of Darth Maul I was touched as I am sure others were. We cared about this character even if he was at odds with Yoda and the Jedi Council. So I do not think he was unlikeable at any strain of the imagination.

I didn't, the visuals were great, the score was great, the action scenes were great, and the basic plot easy to follow.
