usually a good show, last couple of weeks have been bad. last episode, Dorothy got really grating suddenly and Gretchen's big blowup speech was boring and predictable. latest episode was gimmicky as shit, the haunted house thing went on for too long and didn't really do anything interesting with it, just threw random shit at you until it was time for underwritten plot progression. the last chunk of the episode had some real shit writing, tons of clichés in Gretchen and Lindsay's conversation before she goes into the bar, in general those last scenes it felt like fanfiction or something, like this was a new writer's first script. "I KNEW IT! YOU'RE TRYING TO FIX ME!" cut to commercial break, when it comes back, "where's Jimmy?" "he tried to fix me" fuck off. Jimmy's British character running gag was dumb and unlike him, random hot girl at the end was an obvious way to progress the plot of Jimmy/Gretchen's relationship having problems, the whole premise that Jimmy needs to keep the fact that he planned the Halloween events secret was blatantly undercooked (barely did anything with Edgar having to take responsibility, and in the end Jimmy immediately reveals it anyway), nothing really held together logically. even the structure/editing/comedic timing was fucked up, the overlong haunted house bit, the really slow Ouiji board bit with the obvious punchline and the completely meaningless twist, and the bizarre super long pause after Biggie Small's last line. awful fucking episode now that I think about it
