Sagan was a pretty shit scientist. His major contribution to "science" was in very questionable areas: like popularizing the Drake Equation and then the theory of Nuclear Winter, both of which are spurious at best.
One might say he began the politicization of science that has since muddied the scientific method, giving birth to shit science like Global Warmism.
