I saw this a couple weeks ago in IMAX and had a great time. Given the kind of movies Del Toro makes I'm not quite sure what everyone else was expecting from this. All of his movies are 2/4 at best really. And this one is nothing different. Go in with the right expectations and you'll be entertained.

Is it the trailer that was misleading maybe?

I don't really care about taste. People can like whatever they like. To me, the mark of a pleb is needing other people to tell you what is good/bad and what to like.

Del toro thinks he can dodge criticism by including this line but he is wrong. The trailers had me convinced this was a horror film. I was very disappointed.
