Holding on to Sam Mendes was a mistake, the Bond estate mistook the good will it received because of it celebrating the 50 years of the franchise and the fact that it wasn't Quantum of Solace for good film making.

I thought it was pretty meh. Still going hard with the continuous storyline and not really letting go of previous incidents. Also too much digging into James' past. What was so interesting about him is how much of his background is left to the imagination. The whole evil step brother thing was such a clichè. The movie also fails in trying to move away from the overdone oneliners. They decided to try and keep them to the minimum but still wanted to keep some of them around to keep it James Bond- like. It's just not even mildly attention-grabbing anymore. The problem is they can't really go with a more traditional Bond- style movie either because that would be too predictable.

well, mostly british critics so far, and that's because they don't want to be the ones to shit on a billion pound franchise that is propping up the British film industry.

this was also the worst Bond theme in recent memory. I can't think of the last time a Bond theme was that forgettable.

intense action movie, first direct sequel for bond film, plays like CR part II

incorporates the best elements of CR and QOS - great cinematography

ultimate bond film, all roads have led to this, spectre groups all previous adventures together and we see a return of vintage bond elements. gadget car, unstoppable henchman and underground lair.

It was awful. It thinks it can mask every single one of its flaws by playing the "pastiche" card for the entire movie, when the reality is that it knows damn well how horribly written it is in order to appeal to the British public who will go out in droves regardless of whether or not they even liked the last few 007 movies. When Bond and his lady friend ride away at the end, I half-expected them to both look through the rear window and wave at the audience. Wouldn't be the most vapid thing they did in the movie

I mean it looks nice and the acting is okay I guess, but not a scene went by where I didn't grimace at all this obnoxious, one-liner "haha get it because it's James Bond in 2015 we're so subversive" bullshit the characters were spewing.

Oh yeah, and all that work Casion-Quantum-Skyfall put into reimagining the franchise in a more human fashion? Completely demolished in the span of 140 minutes. Great job making this feel as unceremonious of a final installment as possible.
