>>1874769>>1875063I meant "What is This Feeling," but I could see "Popular" being played really gay too. You could easily have Elphaba run out at the last second because Glinda got too close and a little turned on by how she looked and it gave Elphaba ~feelings~.
It's also worth noting that in the musical, Glinda and Elphaba have a sort of typical romantic couple arc—they hate each other, get to know each other, care about each other deeply, sing a song at the very end of the play affirming the depth of their feelings. The actress who played Glinda has gone as far as to call they play "a love story between two women." The writers of the play go out of their way to go nO hOMo though with the addition of a hetero love triangle and a rich prettyboy character for both of them to lust over. (Fucking Fiyero. I'm still pissed about that, his character arc makes no sense and it makes even less sense for Elphaba to like him.)
There's been a few productions where they kiss during their last duet together but I'm under the impression that that's always something the actresses sort of sneak in when the mods are sleeping rather than something intended in the typical production.
