On my current playthrough, I'm just past the Iron Maiden that Ashley lands on. I've got something like 50 handgun ammo (with the Blacktail), 70+ rifle ammo and 20+ shotgun ammo. I've got a revolver and tmp too but I don't count their ammo since I only use them on bosses.
If you aren't shit then ammo should be no concern to you. That is when the Blacktail's superior handling shines and out performs the red9.
Same thing for the Striker. If you aren't shit, you won't need the 99 free shells, at which point it is out preformed by the other shotguns. Red9 and Striker are crutches.
