Just completed it, my first ever Castlevania - really enjoyed it. SOTN now.

I think it's one of the best games in the series and an amazing game in general.

Symphony of the Night is quite good as well, though it's a very different experience from the "classicvania" games like Rondo of Blood.

Rondo is arguably the best classicvania.

SotN is arguably the best metroidvania.

I disagree, the SoTN formula improved a lot during time.

Games like Aria of sorrow and the DS trio are far better.

This game is not only the best Castlevania game ever made, this game is one of the best games ever made peroid.
The music and background alone is so good, its unbelievable.

I would suggest ANYBODY who likes to play 2D platformer should quickly look for this game and see for himself how awesome it is.

Felt dark, sinister, and mature. Soundtrack has lots of eerie and some downright chilling tracks. Blood and some gory bosses. Strange and spooky elements for the sake of being strange and spooky.

Also SotN's PS1 release had a badass translation with a lot of literary references. Knowing what "Granfaloon" means and then meeting the boss is pretty cool. Much more memorable than "Legion."

All that made it feel rooted somewhat in taste and culture rather than something calculated to make anime dollars.
