Because the D20 system had it's time but it pisses me off now. Also it never really works well in a vidya where you do fights upon fights upon fights, while D&D's system is really more fit for tabletop where you'll do a handful of fights per session if that.
Been replaying KOTOR2 recently, and boy does the system not fit the game at all.
