Just have to make sure you never finish a day with someone wanting to move out. There are very obvious signs (always outside until you trigger their initial moving-out announcement, never gives you errands) and you can always probe ahead a week with the reset trick before leaving your town in the dust for a while.
Much better compared to the previous AC titles where moving out was more often unpredictable.
