Honestly, it looks just plain bad. Not just the graphics either. The whole gimmick with looking back and forth between the TV and gamepad is just poorly conceived and sounds really awful, and adding motion controls on top of that doesn't help at all. Plus they've said it won't even have branching paths, just the ability to do the same missions in different vehicles. It sounds like they are making it just for the sake of making another Star Fox game and not because they actually have any strong ideas for it. Which is kind of sad since Star Fox doesn't even really need strong ideas, just good gameplay fundamentals.

It doesn't even look that bad for something rendering two different screens simultaneously, I think they went for a basic look and just called it the Star Fox "aesthetic", which isn't a bad thing as long as it's done like say, Wind Waker.

My only concern is the gameplay, obviously I'll wait to see what the verdict is on that when it comes out.

First of all, those missions were optional in 64. You could basically get caught and then wing it. Second, of all, they sucked then and they suck now. It's been almost 20 years since 64. The series should be improving and removing fat, not shoving shitty stealth sections to pad out gameplay.

But here we are, with boring sections that exist only so Miyamoto can show that the Wii U gamepad can be used for games almost three years after the console came out.

It isn't needed, but it is nice to have if done well. That's why RPGs have minigames. That's why the Sonic Adventure series had the Chao Garden. It's why stealth sections exist in any game. Why are underwater levels needed in platformers?

Have you ever played 64? You can get caught in Zoness and still play and finish the mission, you just miss out on the hard route.Here in Zero you get shot to death because you're playing as a slow helicopter.

And yet you still miss out on the true ending because you failed the stealth mission. If anything, the fact that failing is more punishing should be a turn on for you, since it makes the game more challenging. As for slow missions, the Blue Marine was slow, and it was still a great level.

You still fight the boss and finish the mission, you just get sent onto an easier route.

Meanwhile the Zero stage has nothing to it, it's just tedious Nintendo stealth mission they shove into whatever game they can. The fact that people are accepting it gives me no hope for this game.

I'd be pretty happy with a StarFox game if it was either:
