I just played through it the beginning of this month. It's kinda fucking stupid, but interesting. I did not find it scary at all, but it's still entertaining, with a couple of frustrating moments in it. The Japanese character speaking engrish and the weeb speaking basic japanese is a riot though. It has good body horror though, and the final boss is very memorable for being a mindfuck type of thing.
Other than it being ps3 exclusive, I see no reason why people would list it highly on a must play horror game list. I haven't played the original but after playing through blood curse im willing to bet the original would be better.
