Essentially the Game of the Year edition released for this game. If I never played it is it worth picking up for 40$? Or should I stick to paying 30$ without the dlc?

How did you not play Isolation? It was arguably GOTY 2014. There's a lot of DLC for that 10 dollars but if you don't enjoy the game it'll feel like somewhat of a waste. I would go for the DLC included version personally, but just weigh up the choices yourself.

Only if you were a complete fucktard who played on easy and hid in lockers for the entire game instead of playing on the default difficulty (Hard) and staying on the move as you're supposed to.

I love the franchise but that doesn't mean that anything with a xeno in it is automatically great.
The atmosphere is nice, but that's all I enjoyed about it.

I just never ended up buying the game but I felt like I was always waiting for a reason to buy it. I know the prices has dropped lower than 30$ before but I'm not sure how long it will be again before that happens

It's weirdly long for a horror game and all of the tension drains pretty early on. The Alien becomes more a nuisance than anything; people say it happens when you get the flamethrower but I was sick of seeing the alien way before that. All he does is slow progress.

The hardest difficulty (I think it was added in a patch) is probably the only actually challenging difficult, but I wouldn't really recommend it just because it just kind of drags it out more and the game doesn't need to take any more time than it already does.

Really I thought the game was kind of a slog and by the time I got to the end I'd had more than enough.

It looks pretty good, though.
