>>314769742It's incredibly rare for one factor to directly be the cause of another factor. Usually things are affected to varying extends by literally thousands of different things. Only an idiot would see two things that seem to correlate and immediately assume there's a causal link. That's the kind of shit tabloid newspapers do when a journal suggests that there's a correlation between the number of video games someone plays and the prevalence of carcinogenic tissue in a person and automatically writes a headline like "VIDEO GAMES CAUSE CANCER."
In that circumstance, no, of course Video Games don't literally fucking cause cancer, it's just that the kind of person who plays video games a lot and happens to also have time to take a 2 hour interview and medical exam in close proximity to the university is also the kind of person who is likely to have a poor diet and is unlikely to go for regular checkups with the doctor, and is also unlikely to be the kind of person who takes full care of their health.
Or maybe "VIDEO GAMES CAUSE VIOLENT SCHOOL SHOOTINGS." No, it's just that every fucking 12 to 18 year old male in the US plays video games, so of course there's going to be something like a 95% chance that a school shooter played a violent video game in the week before they shot a school up.
But that sort of thing requires a mental capacity beyond your average stormfucker.
