>Gameplay and/or game logo looks nothing like advertised
An example would be that one steam game that's Atari-level pixel art and used that pixel art castle you can easily find on google as their header.
>Game is hailed as progressive
I'm all for fantasy, but this shit isn't good writing. It never is. An amazing example is Gone Home (I know it's not really a game, but for example's sakes I'm using it)
>Sells out to youtubers for exposition
Remember Yandere Simulator? Remember how it sold out and had Pewdiepie give it support? Remember what could have been?
>Game tries to imitate a popular brand or series
That one pony game that got DMCA'd and had to forcibly be changed to farm animals is about the only example I can think of. It WAS /v/ related for a time, but it got trashed by being ruled as /mlp/ content. RIP a potentially good game, you died and went (further) to hell.
>Indie game claiming to be retro graphics, but said graphics aren't even retro
Lazily done sprites are NOT retro. Shovel Knight and Axiom Verge (or whatever that metroid clone was called) get a pass just because they actually had effort put into them, but they're still dangerously close to this category.
>Developers who are outright shitheads who lie to their community
Chucklefish is my main point. Still waiting for the game we were promised two years ago. To this day I still regret buying Starbound thanks to their lies.
>Good game goes pay to win (or even more p2w than it originally was)
RIP S-4 League, Cosmic Break, and every other potentially fun but now dead game.
>Cash shop is mandatory for the full experience
We all know the games that do this, even if we've never played them.
>Season Pass before the game is even available
You fuckers need to finish the MAIN game first, then release a suitable amount of content as DLC. Horse Armor and gold weapon skins are NOT acceptable.
>Game is only known because of Mt. Dew and Doritos
I will not do the Dew, Sam I Am.
