Why is it that all weapons leveled up in dps and dmg when geralt levels up save for the sword you wield? You get some badass sword thats absolutely amazing initially just so later on, common bndit swords outclass it by like 100 points.

Whats the point of looking for unique or special weapons?

I love The Witcher 3, but both the loot and the quest distributions were completely bonkers bananas. I still have absolutely no clue how they meant the player to proceed through the game.

It's like you're just supposed to follow the plot for the most part and just do a side quest or two when you stumble into them, but the plot levels you up so much after a certain point and you miss out on SO MUCH CONTENT (or at least you spoil it by being too strong for it).
Also, the Witcher gear sets make 99% of the loot worthless, except for selling or dismantling for materials.

There's a yellow exclamation mark quest by the docks of Novigrad where you have to help this dude who is being harassed, and basically if you ignore it it's gone forever, but if you start it you can't delay it (I believe). Problem is, by the time you get around those parts you're most likely too weak for it, either because you're following the plot or because you're scouting the area to see what level the quests are.

As a side note, you know that Griffin quest they showed off in one of the first gameplay videos? The one where on the way you go help a chick who is being harassed by bandits? I don't think I've ever seen it in the game, is it somewhere?

Game would have been much better if it followed the same path the previous games did IMO, allowing you to go from region to region (in the order you choose) so you can experience all the quests and content at your level without being under or overleveled.

I get the impression that you're always going to gray out at least some quests no matter what you do. If you focus on main quests for a while and then occasionally do side quests, a ton of the side quests are grayed out, but if you try to do all the available sidequests in an area before tackling the main quests, you're gonna level past the main quests pretty fast.

Yes, I believe that was it. I remember part of that video taking part around Crookback Bog, but I wasn't sure whether that quest was also supposed to be there.

I can't say I'm too bummed out it was cut since there's so much stuff in the game already, I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss it outright.
I even thought it was going to be added in with Hearts of Stone.

At this point of the game i didn't care at all since every fight was already easy as fuck.
I remember in tw1 when i was so happy when i find a meteor rune. But in tw3 i never cared about the loot.
Theres 250 different type of rune that you get every where... Craft only matters for witcher gear... Potions feel like a cheat mode (hello White Rafford's Decoction) same for sign (hello quen)

You either stick to the main questline and rush through the story or you do a side-quest here and there and end up being massively over-leveled to the point where every single fight is trivial.

It does make sense though anon. Those were local jobs geralt could do in a short time. Id imagine hed have to stop at certain towns or cities to search for leads or rest because he ran into some dead end and needed money.

HoS is pretty good. Its its own standalone adventure that has nothing to do with with the main games story though. Put 20 hours into my first playthrough of it and its only 7 bucks.

I dont understand how anyone can hate Novigrad though. One of the best cities in a RPG.

I don't even know what the level cap is in this game. I've been playing like 100 hours and I'm still only level 25 and I can craft level 35 pieces

But I'm not finding anything particularly challenging either. Whenever I encounter a level 35 enemy I find that they can't attack you as long as you hit them just before their attack

I like that they made the Venomous Viper sword *1* damage higher than the Iris sword from Von Everec, just so people dont feel obligated to use one over the other.

Personally, I hated Everec's saber. The power attack special (who the fuck uses heavy attacks anyway) that steals your own health to use, was really really bad. And I felt weird not using a witcher's blade, too.

Glad they made a proper Viper set. Ever since Witcher 2 they've been my favourite school.

zones were all a cluster fuck were there were level 3 bandits you could one shot here, then down the road there were level 16 bandits who you couldn't scratched and instagibbed you with one hit

and there was zero reason to not just use witcher gear. which is lame, but atleast the witcher gear all looks sex and has good stats (wolf school is my favorite looks wise and it has the best stats for what I like to play)

I still don't get why mobs had levels... or why they made anything 5 levels lower be fucking piss easy and 5 levels above to be stronger than the wild hunt.

On my 2nd playthrough I did just that, went for a bomb and poison build, shirked ALL witcher weaponry (only used what I looted) and played on Death March. Made the game vastly more interesting.

It's based on what level you are when you finish the quest, which is dumb. If you finish it late enough in the game it's actually better than even the crafted witcher swords.

While I agree, in terms of using it as a weapon in a video game it is shit, if you look at the sword less as a weapon and more as a token of appreciation and trophy for what you've done it makes more sense. In lore it would make sense that upon Geralt getting the sword, he would likely set it up in a house as a personal trophy.

It's like in real life if you were to find King Arthurs sword. It's a fucking rusty ass sword, and no amount of legendary statuses or songs that were told about it will make it any more then what it actually is: A sword that by luck had taken part in a number of great deeds.

they aren't hero units, so it's possible to win them as a prize from a random gwent game, also a few merchants sell them

honestly, it kinda pissed me off how NG+ removes all your gwent cards so you have to find them again
my northern deck used to be a siege machine, now I'm relying on spies and a million blue stripes commandos to win

Good joke. One of the only things I hate about HoS and Witcher 3 as a whole. It was our chance to get an upgradeable hooded Witcher school set and they squandered it in the worst possible way.

Iris' heavy attack is great, it instantly destroys human enemies stamina, so shieldbearers always drop their shields

it kinda depends on your build if the sword is any good or not
if you go full bear armour and focus on heavy attack skills, then that sword DESTROYS things in 1 hit

also I like the slightly curved design, I feel bad goping back to a normal straight sword, doesn't look nearly as nice
that was my main reason for using it over the viper venomous sword

Im replaying the game right now, and I cant think of a single piece of armour that has fur or animalistic aspects to it. Honestly I'd hoped that all of the witcher armour sets would instill a clearer representation and theme for their respective schools than they do. Cat does an ok job, but wolf and viper look pretty bland imo, and lets not even address the atrocious Griffin set.

I keep seeing people complaining about this and I don't understand why? he had to kill Roche and the others to fulfill his plan, and he has always hated Geralts guts and would be glad if hes dead. The fight definitely should have been a lot harder and he should have brought some fucking crossbowmen or something rather than 4 fucking mooks, and there should have been a scene where hes dying and you decide his fate.

Best way to play the game is to use the witcher set you like the best, never craft a single weapon, and explore for em. Trust me, when you get your mastercrafted Ursine swords and suddenly every single item is less powerful and the game is trivial, it becomes a much more hollow experience. Same problem WoW leveling had when they introduced heirlooms.

Get your weapons from loot. You'll have more fun.

Considering that the main story on Skellige first time you're there is fairly short, I'd say yes.
The atmosphere there was god tier as well and just the random side quests I found there were all high quality.

This sounds reasonable, I like looting gear over crafting it - unless the crafting is actually involved or has its own feels - like in MonHun where the armor you get will obviously tell me what I made it from.

Yes the music, the environnement are really good. But i feel like i'm playing skyrim. Also every thing looks too "good" and Geralt is like "wow there are so many bros here". This is not the grim witcher world where every thing is sad. Its the exact contrary. Its like the paradise for Geralt. Every one respect him.

Except the magical tower none of them were stunning in terms of story or gameplay.
Maybe its because i never felt involve in this skyrim world. I got attached with characters like dijksta, roche, the red baron, the crones, the which hunters, the gangs. I felt involved in this redania vs nilfgaard war.
In skellige i just didn't give a fuck about those clans and their problems. Hopefully the main quest with yen was one of the best of the game.

Yeah. Witcher 3's scaling system is what makes it a 7/10 instead of a 10/10. I can get past the combat, but the game is truly ruined by the scaling - it's irredeemably bad in my honest opinion. A bandit's rusty sword from novigrad should not be 10x as strong as Princess Xenthia's sword.

This is my biggest issue here. Ofc i can understand that people liked this area. But its simply not the kind of stuff that i like the most in the witcher universe.
Also it seems that im not the only one : lot of people debate about nilgaard/temeria/redania ending, witcher/empress ciri, yen/triss.
But looks like nobody gives a fuck about skellige.

It was a fantastic game, but something didn't feel right with the exploration, I don't know if it would have been better not to label some of the side quests. It didn't have that "I wonder what is over there" feel. Also the lack of dungeons was disappointing.

I'm talking about level progression and how enemies and quests scale, or rather don't scale with it. It's the absolute worst i have seen in any video game.

As for weapon progression. It's there but it's nothing special. You just get flat damage or defense upgrades. The crafting helps make it a little interesting.

What mostly annoys me is how they changed the lighting system before release.
Most interiors' lighting is really ugly, and outside it often results in stuff either looking too bright or too dark. Also compare how the walls of Novigrad looked in the E3 demo compared to the final game.
Normally don't care that much about stuff like that but I feel like it really affected the atmosphere of the game, by making things look more cartoony.

isn't the Edkidna one vitality every time you strike someone? Or is that a different one? Whatever one that is I made heavy use out of it.

I'm just starting a runthrough where I'm going to focus on green abilities and see how much juicing I can get up to. It was pretty cool having three different decotions up at once while also having plenty of toxicity space left for a white raffard's or two.

Whoever was in charge of the design there fucked up. There are rarely any cool vistas since you mostly just have small hills, fog and trees constantly blocking everything. Doesn't really make for good screenshot material.

Honestly, its the completely flat color and lack of variety to the foliage in Velen that makes it an eye sore.

Closer to Novigrad it gets a lot better but Skellige looks like an actual environment.

It feels like they designed a modern action adventure game with customization and choice, and then remembered "oh right it's supposed to be an RPG" and hamfisted in leveling at the last second.

This ain't no MMO. Level locked gear? Leveled enemies? Fucking stupid.

Most rpgs have skill-locked gear, or class locked.
There is only one class, and they opted out of a classic skillpoint system, so level locking is the most practical solution.

Not that I found myself lacking money, but it is a big hit on my immersion.

You can't even consider those mod tools.
They're actual fucking garbage. The tools need workarounds just to get them to work properly or to even get any decent modding out of them.
A far cry from what was promised by CDPR before release, they promised tools on par or even better than the Witcher 2 RedKit.
