I enjoyed the gameplay through the 90 hours that I have played. All the time I was just waiting for the Metal Gear Solid to start though. Once I actually noticed the structure of the missions I basically just did all the sideops inbetween missions to keep myself from going through the meager story too fast. Gameplay is good. A bit too repetitive. It's like the same missions with a different cutscene in between.

Why do people shit on the story though? MGS plot has always been overbearing and convoluting. Only difference is that the cutscenes didn't consist of a bunch of old faggots droning about war for 20 minutes. I understand content was cut but the cut episode doesn't even fucking serve the game justice.

Game is sort of a disappointment. But it's the cleanest looking title along with PW and 3. Most of the autists on /v/ actually don't have much of a real reason the despise this game other than to stay in the circlejerk.

So IMO it's MGS3 > PW > MGS > MGSV > MGS4 > MGS2

The gameplay is great aside from some tweaks and additions that could have been made over another 6 months of development.

The story in MGS was always stupid but I was very fond of it, but this game really let me down in terms of character development, especially concerning big boss and ocelot

I truly believe that Metal Gear Solid V was supposed to be bait and switch side story about Venom Snake and that Kojima had plans to make the "real" Metal Gear Solid 5 about what happened to Big Boss between Peace Walker and the original Metal Gear Solid.

And then all the shit went down with Konami and he realized that he wasn't going to get a chance to make that game and so they tried to shove a bunch of story stuff into a game that wasn't ever intended to have it or designed for it.

Thats hard to believe, when only the prologue and chapter one were acceptable and thats no more than thirty hours. The gameplay and game hours stretch out like a used gum due to repeating missions

I mean, what else can they cover that can be spanned into something full-length? Plus Konami is done with real games. So idk why they won't sell the license for rape so they can get big bucks for their shitty mobile games. Large revenue won't last forever unless the product stays fresh.

There was no story.
As far as I'm concerned, the story ended after chapter 1 and came back a bit during an inconclusive ending that left more plot holes than it answered.
