As someone who owns both I honestly believe that everybody who should own a wii u already does and if you really are so poor that you couldn't afford one in the last 3 years you may as well wait until the release of its successor and either get that assuming backwards compatibility or wait for prices to hit rock bottom

OP I have both, and it really depends on what kinds of games you like. Are you looking for single player "experiences"? With story action combat etc etc, do you like playing realistic stylized games? Because if you do, in the future (not now because to be honest the ps4 doesn't really have that many good games that fit this category) you'll probably want to go with the ps4. I love my wiiu because I'm a comfy fag and I like the good laid back fun as much as I like the depth of game of things like bloodborne or the Witcher

You just have to ask yourself which games you like to play. If you're not gonna be happy with a console that has mostly games like wooly world and Mario maker, then don't buy the wiiu. But if you like that type of stuff, then absolutely get it

I have Wii U, PS4 and PC (so my PS4 has been a Bloodborne machine so far), and I think Wii U actually has more hardcore games, at least at the moment.
Bayonetta 2, Wonderful 101, Monster Hunter 3U and DKC: Tropical Freeze have deeper and more challenging gameplay than anything on PS4, with the exception of the aforementioned Bloodborne

Wii U only has mediocre games. I enjoyed SM3DW, Pikmin 3, DKCTP,MK8, but they all sucked compared to their previous games. Nintendo is going through a phase where they play it safe and make games very bland and rehashed. (W101 and Bayo1/2 were really good though).

I own both and I'd say if you're unsure, do more research.

First and foremost, don't drop the couple hundo a console costs unless you're absolutely sure it'll be worth it for you. I love both my PS4 and Wii U and would recommend both - but only to people who are already heavily interested.

Hardware and feature wise both are quite good. The Wii U pad is a great standard controller on top of all the unique stuff it can do, and Off TV Play is one of the best things about this generation. No real complaints about it feature wise. PS4s solid too, no complaints and it's still getting major feature updates. Remote play is awesome as well - doesn't run quite as perfectly as off TV play does, but works at greater distances.

Game wise I can't really decide for you since that's massively subjective but I've gotten good solid and regular use out of my Wii U for the three years I've had it, but releases that personally interest me have slowed - only thing I plan to get in the foreseeable future is Star Fox. Conversely the PS4 has been picking up the pace for games that interest (just got Disgaea 5 and Tales of Zestiria, will be getting Gravity Rush Remastered and Hundred Knight Revival as well as maybe Digimon Story in February). Pic related is my collection.

Ultimately all I can tell you is to make a list of what you're interested in that is already out, see which means more for you, look up the price of the system and decide yourself. If you have specific questions about either console I can help though.

I have both, but aside from MGO, I mainly play my Wii U. PS4 is looking to have a good line up for next year, but that's banking on unproven quality. Wii U already has a ton of great games out.

I´m mustard race but objectively I would probably choose PS4. Maybe it´s because I grew up on first two playstations but I never liked ANY of the nintendo games. To me it´s all just pokemon this mario that. I never liked these games...
