I stopped playing just before the infamous corpses patch, and the following disappointing surrender of the devs to the casuals.
I will pick it up again when its fully released in a few months so I can get a proper run going from scratch.

Agreed, they should just stick with what they think is good for the game itself.

People are going to relentlessly whinge about RNG but that's half the game right there and they've decided to add more risk management to the game.
