All of DR1's mysteries are easy, but it is still the funnest to play on max difficulty. The 2nd game has much harder and better mysteries, but the gameplay elements are worsened to the point where it is obnoxious.

The focus in Ace Attorney was never to find the killer though, but to prove beyond no doubt that the killer did it. The archaic court setting emphasizes this. This is especially true in the first game where you can literally just tell the who the murderer is first time you meet them.

The setting in Danganronpa is different, emphasizing on betrayal amongst friends, so the act of finding the killer is paramount. The first game started on a bad note, with the first case revealing the killer too early and spending too much time proving the deed. Everything after the climax (finding out who betrayed you), is anti climatic and just drags the case. They fixed this in the second game where the first case genuinely tries to mislead on who the killer is, resulting in pretty much the best case in the series.

I don't see how anyone can put AA on top in terms of stories. It's shit except for like 2 cases.
I think HD and LW are better in terms of story, characters and atmosspehre. Sure, gameplay sucks in the Kyle Hyde games, but to be fair, it's the same case with every other of these handheld mystery adventures.

The English dub is not very good. Togami's VA in particular struck me as -really- bad. It's a pretty awful contrast to a top of the line seiyuu like Akira Ishida.

In general, DR's JP cast is a bunch of extremely well known folks, whereas the dub is largely a bunch of Literally Whos. I'm not an ardent dub hater, I really enjoyed VLR's dub, for instance. DR's was just plain bad for the most part.

Danganronpa, and especially Danganronpa 2, are so fucking good. Marry absurdity and despair very well. They're not the best mystery games ever but they stand on their owner well.

I love Ace Attorney, but much prefer DR. ZE is way too overrated imo, tries to be too serious and always loses me. They're cartoon characters, you have to mix it up for it to work.

Story wise? AA at the top? Fuck no.

As much as I love the AA series, the cases are constantly predictable, reuse ideas and at its worst constantly repeat the themes of the series.

DR might have an extremely anime storyline, but the individual cases and the twists that come with them are FAR better than just about every AA case.

I mean seriously, AA is still reusing ideas straight from the very first game. Dual Destinies' final case was just Rise From the Ashes retreaded to be a little more ridiculous. The cop is the villain, little girl suspected to be killer, ect.

AA's core story sucks most of the time when it tries to take itself seriously, and the cases are very hit-or-miss. It's the GOAT core cast of characters that keeps everyone coming back.

Danganronpa stories are fucking garbage.

The game excels at characters and dialogue but the stories and mystery are shit. The games are piss easy as fuck and obvious 90% of the time, not to mention final chapters are just exposition dumps
