So I got the recent HB capcom bundle and am now playing through 4, which I really like.

Resident Evil HD remaster and 6 are currently on sale on steam.

Should I wait for a better sale before getting RE HD?
What's the consensus on RE6? Will I have fun or get utterly confused by the 4 campaigns?

RE6 campaigns are shit, don't worry. Mercenaries is super fun, worth getting the game just for that.

The general consensus is that RE6 is dogshit.

I personally really enjoyed it. There is a lot of fun to be had with the multiple campaigns and each has something for everyone. The story interlinking with one another is also pretty well done. The controls are on point, literally one of the best controlled games out there.

Overall, it isn't the best RE game out there, but it is leagues better then fucking RE0.
It is worth picking up for a playthrough and if you have a friendo to play with the game is great fun.

It's an alright game but it's reeeeaaally forgettable. Which is a shame because as a campy co-op action game it's really good, but it just doesn't have much in the way of really cool memorable moments. RE5 is much better in that regard.

I still have no idea why people like 4 so much more than 5. They're both super camp and ridiculous, they both play pretty much the same but 5 is a bit more polished purely because of its age, they're really similar games but 5 has co-op so I enjoyed it a bit more.

I have this exact same opinion. I loved RE5 and RE6 and I never understood why people hate them, they're different to the original RE's but the coop is so fun.

Avoid RE6. You'll have some fun with mercenaries mode but it's incredibly easy and there are better ways to spend your time. Story mode is a wreck.

I grew up with Resident Evil, I just see 1-3 and 4-6 in a different light. REmake is still the pinnacle though.

5 was designed around multiplayer, and AI Sheva isn't fun to deal with. It also didn't have grid inventory and was even LESS horror than RE4.

It's pretty simple to see why people prefer RE4.

I see them as different games. The writing was never great, but it took a serious dive with 4 and was spiraled downward ever since. Remake was 10/10 though, I agree.

They should develop a new Outbreak game and actually invest some money in the the Revelation series, but I say that as a fan, not a business man.

Also 4 bought the series back from the dead.

People seem to forget that by the time 0 and REmake were out, people were bored with RE. They just weren't selling any more.

Absolutely, I loved both of them and I must have poured countless hours into them. David was my main man.

They should at the very least release it on PC, and the community alone would keep it alive.

Not at launch... That was even worse than REmake. Shit was on the Dreamcast for too long. Strategic decisions are what's harmed the RE series more than anything else. Capcom has no idea what the fans because they barely know what they're doing outside of Japan.

RE3 actually sold very well. According to Capcom, 3.5 million sales. Much lower than RE2's ~5million, but still very strong.

For comparison, according to their numbers, the PS2+GC sales of RE4 were 2.3 and 1.6 million respectively, equaling 3.9 million. Basically, going multiplat is what allowed them to actually beat RE3's sales again, not reach the pinnacles of the series up to that point.

A lot of it was simply that going console exclusive is fine when you're making games for a system that has like 70% of the market share. Not so much when you make an exclusive for one that has 10%.
