Bioshock, famously. I think Undertale does a lot of this? But my knowledge of the game is limited to a single 12-minute video. I think Dark Souls 2 does this in a few cases. Notable, "...without really knowing why," is pointing out that the player will probably play through the game without actually understanding their character's motivations, since the story is so obtuse.

I thought about that but i think that is a shit example

you don't even have control over the character when he is 'forcing you' to kill him so that would mean the whole slave obey's thing is about the character not the player

Yeah, maybe Bioshock is a bad example. What it's doing is a bit different than what's going on in something like Spec Ops or DkS2. In those games, an NPC addresses the PC, but "secretly" is telling the player themselves something. Whereas Bioshock is more, like, commenting on the nature of video game narratives. Kinda like that game about raping a woman at a bus stop.

FFXIV does it rather well.

After the shock of find all of your friends dead, you also have to spend time picking up their bodies, so that you can put them on a wagon to be carried off to be buried.

It takes multiple trips to pick them all up.

yeah, and the fact that SO and DkS2 are third person makes a big difference. At least with spec ops it is written in such a way that it could be about the PC.

Either way its clear that whats his dick in bioshock is supposed to be making a point beyond the scope of vidya so it should be at least considered in the same ballpark
