I'd say Rock Band eclipsed Guitar Hero pretty well. It certainly forced Guitar Hero to step up their game, and I don't think the franchise quite caught back up to Rock Band before the music game bubble burst. But who gives a fuck about music games?

In general, if a game is being marketed as an XXX KILLER it was probably conjured up by a team of marketing school grads who spent their entire college careers being taught that imitating a popular product will magically make yours more attractive to customers.

Nothing, they made surfing even easier and fucked with physics some more, and then added in some modes that didn't fucking work with the maps they had and weren't willing to make new maps for, and everyone eventually got tired of their shit and left. Also something about unlocks but who cares, ascend was always tribes retarded mongoloid child everyone dumped on someone else to watch.

It came out of beta, hi-rez went full jew, releasing new unbalanced weapons every week that only people with 10000+ hours could unlock or rich fags could use, speed caps, new modes were underwhelimng, etc.
