It's actually mind boggling how well this game did despite the harsh critics in Japan.

How's the gameplay? I usually enjoy the gameplay of the Tales games and dislike the plot a bit. Usually the characters make up for it, though.

Played it up to that sword pulling scene until I uninstalled it.
I might have forgiven how terrible the writing was if the combat style was different. I guess its a Tales thing, but it really wasn't my cup of tea.

A shame. Thought the characters were cute, and the music seemed really good.

I was on the edge of dropping it at that point too. The combat just seemed like mashing a single button was the way to go.

It does get better when you get more abilities. I'm glad I stuck with it, but it's still a little stiff.

At least the way they're arranged by default makes some sense though with up/down for narrow and right/left for wide area attacks.

Japan and most long term fans are feeling burned out because of how the series has been horribly rushed and plagued with absolutely stupid design choices since Baba became producer. They're using the last minute removal of Alisha as an easy way to vent their frustrations.

Zestiria itself isn't good, but it's not the worst Tales ever.
