ITT: games that you think would get a different reception if they were released today, for better or worse


I played pic related recently, and while it might have a great atmosphere/story the gameplay feels so barebones and eady even by the time's standard for horror games, and in reviews it was often pointed out

But then I thought, aren't many horror (and non) games just as empty outside the storytelling aspects? Yet they're praised and setting a new standard

Then again, maybe the game nowadays would get even more shit than it did before because many game "journalists" and fans would join the soccer moms in the outrage caused by the little girls
