The first game was pretty great.

The formula hadn't been seen much before, there were only four characters (with a fifth being a pretty rare occurrence), the graphics were generally pretty good and the animatronics looked like real ones, and it was a pretty simple story of "you're the new night guard, the animatronics are haunted". Keep in mind that this was also the first game to really do something with that kinda creepy vibe animatronics give off.

Eventually, three sequels were released in less than a year, the animatronics became stupidly fake looking or overly monster-like, the gameplay was made needlessly complex, they added a billion characters, and they ruined what was a simple and effective story.

Scott Chawton made good rpgs, but not enough people played them.
He then made the gimicky FNaF games, wich became popular and gave him enough money to make his first games free.
Now he made an rpg like he always liked, using the FNaF characters so more people will notice it.

I wouldnt mind a spinoff actuallly related to the main game. Like some dinky in-universe NES-style platformer with the original 4 that could have been made in the time the game is set in. Call it Foxy's Pirate Adventures! or something like that, like the cartrige came with the meal at the pizza place and make it an obvious knockoff of some famous platformer of the time then add a creepy as shit secret level full of cries for help
