TBH i wished it would rely less on the shitty combat system and more on being scary by atmosphere.

Why are there barely any horror games that always make you feel threatened when you actually arent, just by environmental stuff. I find it way creepier when those ghosts are just hanging down somewhere or staring at me / walking away instead of having to do some kind of "intense" fight with them.

At first I hated the controls. Fir whatever reason I had it in my head you couldn't switch the camera to the TV, and having to shift between screens was awful. But once I found out you can turn the Gamepad camera shit off (and I bumped up the sensitivity) it got much better.

The only other Fatal Frame game I played was the original, and this one isn't nearly as scary so far. The doll shrine is creepy but otherwise it's not scary at all. I don't remember the ghosts taking so long to die in the original, either. The combat is kind of shitty, at least when fighting the faster ghosts. But that's typical of survival horror. The ghosts grabbing you when picking up items is annoying too.

I still like it overall though. It looks great, has an interesting story, and scratches that old-school survival horror itch. I'm hoping it dies well enough that Nintendo will be more confident about localizing these games in the future. That, or the series moves to another platform.

Wait you can put all of the camera onto the screen? Including the circles and stuff? I might do that but I'm not sure, I think playing it by looking "through" the gamepad makes it more immersive. Though I agree the motion controls are somewhat shitty since you have to sometimes turn around too much to just look straight.

I fucking loved it.
I'm still pissed at the game being butchered by NoA, but I bought it because it's fundamentally a good game and I won't let some SJW localizers ruin it for me. I want to reward the game developers for their hard work in making an atmospheric horror game that doesn't rely on cheap jumpscares.

Yeah it's in the options. I hated switching between screens. Especially when you press B to dodge and it boots you out of camera mode every time. It just felt like a hassle to me. I much prefer the traditional method. Although, you do still need to use the gamepad to twist the camera.

The costumes have to do with the characters' personalities though. Sure, they didn't alter the core game, but they still went way too far IMO.
And last I checked we do have dual audio.

Its not altering any gameplay. Sure Im kinda annoyed as well but what matters in the end is that the gameplay itself is unchanged.

It's not altering the gameplay, but the gameplay isn't the only factor in a videogame.
Horror games especially work off of atmosphere created by the art and sound direction, and this game plays with the idea of eroticism mixed with horror as part of its art direction. This isn't something like Ace Attorney where they're changing things that would've been incomprehensible to western players, NoA took a stab at the art direction, even if for some post game content.

this guy isnt me ( >>314880806 ), but I kinda agree. Taking these costumes out can`t really ruin the games art direction if you cannot use them during the main playthrough anyway. Its just a bonus. The real art direction and the way its intended is the stuff that you get during your normal playthrough and not the bonus stuff for fans afterwards.

If you're talking about NoA's Nintendo costumes, they are indeed jokey, but the original costumes fit a gravure model, and were part of the art direction.

You're not realizing that it's less about some post game content and more about NoA thinking it's okay to change shit in the game for no justifiable reason.

It's principles, man. What if they decide next that they aren't okay with the characters getting wet and showing their underwear through their clothes? It's the same idea, censoring something because it's erotic.

You gotta cut this shit at the root, or you'll never see the end of it. Dicks don't have shoulders, there's no such thing as allowing NoA to put just the head in the game's ass.

Is it better than the first game? The first game was boring shit to me. Just like Silent Hill only worse, it lacked what made Resident Evil good, i.e. awesome looking rooms and camera angles to explore.

Yes I agree with you on the photoshooting scene, this should not have been changed and they shouldve kept it at the bikini.

I understand where youre coming from and usually im also against censorship but I doubt that they wouldve done it if it was absolutely the way the game was intended to be.
(See for example how bayonetta 2 is unchanged and skill corny as fuck)
