Sentinel is pretty much designed to deal with many small shitters.

Saboteur is ass for them because they gotta debuff everything one at a time. Better to just kill them all.
Synergist is still good for that though.

Sab is just for the big ones.

I just find that by the time your Syn has gotten the buffs up, you could have just staggered and killed a little shit with a Rav instead (or going full Com and Blitzing everything to death). On the other hand, they really shit on big dudes combined with Imperil and great against enemies that can kill you in one hit. Bar Fire came in real handy the first time I thought a Juggernaut: it went from nearly killing my party in one hit to doing jack shit.

Assuming you haven't farmed CP at all, Sazh should be a staple member of your party through Pulse due to exclusive access to Haste/Brave/Faith. He can't do defensive buffs, so a sen like Snow, Fang, or Light might be good. Snow has the advantage of reprieve and huge HP which might be enough to place him over Fang (your best com, should minimize time spent on defense). Light is worth noting for the very potent evade/elude/nimbletoe combination that makes her the best tank in the game against physicals (it requires going into a secondary however and this can be expensive).

With Sazh and Snow, you have double rav, double com, sen, syn. The natural choice for third member is Vanille who offers med and sab. Between the three, you have haste, brave, faith, deprotect, deshell, imperil, curaja, all magical and physical rav elements, and launch - the best of the abilities.

Of course there are combinations that are viable and offer as much but if you want to get a taste of effective paradigm deck building, try Sazh, Snow, Vanille.

Every game feels like it drags on for too long in the beginning. I have recently found efficient play or "speedrun" play very interesting and try to utilize those ideas and methods into my casual play. It took me about 3 hours to play from the beginning of XIII to the end of Lake Bresha when I first started, and now I can do it in 30 minutes. Helps move the game along to my favorite parts while guving me the satisfaction of knowing I am "playing well."

That reminds me, I have a NCUNEU game I should complete. Grinding for 100% on a challenge run wears me out no matter what.
