The level design is more consistent in quality trough the game.
The story is more fleshed out.
I don't mind that some bosses are gimmicky, personally.

It has nothing to do with being a hipster, both are good games on their own.

I like both equally, but tend to play DaS1 more because it has much better PvP, personally.

Other way around.

You HAVE to take Kaathe down and then bone out without placing the Lord Vessel, THEN you can talk to Frampt (Bring a bone just in case)
