Worked at game studios remotely at 16
Embedded device and drivers at 18
bounced around startups for a decade after that
tried glass blowing for a year

there's also performance issues. a lot of people play 2d games because they can't run 3d ones decently, so you might be cutting out a lot of people who would play your game but now won't because they have to have UE and PhysX going just to get through your stupid "le quirky pixels :^)" platformer

You mean the entire RE game? Or just that scene? As anon pointed out the backgrounds in those games were pre-rendered images so if you had those background graphics ready you're already halfway done. Then it's a matter of whipping up low poly models, creating inventory system, scripting gameplay events, cutscene triggers, adding sound effects.

Very hard question to answer. One thing's for sure though: Unity could do it.

Positions will have an extra dimension, and rotation will have 2 extra dimensions.
For unity, I haven't looked into if it can be made to work differently; physics you'll have to constrain the dimensions you don't want, which runs a check on if it left and moves it back inside which is twice as much shit.
