Not really speaking of herb farms, is it better to use clay posts/planter boxes, or "natural soil" for herbs? It seems like, with a staff of regrowth, it'd be better to do the latter, since you'll get seeds no matter what.

I don't think it actually makes a difference. It all just comes down to aesthetic preferences. If you're using natural soils you just need to remember to use the right ground for each herb (like sand for waterleaf, jungle mud for moonglow, etc.)

Depends how you define "rare."

If you keep genning new worlds and actively search for sword shrines, you can have it in a few hours.

But in terms of just, the odds of naturally finding one in the wild without going out of your way for it? Then I'd have to say it's pretty close, at least in the top five.

You play the game however you want. But don't cheat to get a rare item, then try to act like you got it legitimately. Savescumming so you can break the same sword over and over again until you get an Arkhalis is cheating.

The devs intended for you to be able to visit multiple worlds. They didn't intend for you to do what is essentially hacking. Savescumming in Terraria means either making a copy of your save file, or setting it to read-only so that the game can't write over your save.; both of which are actions external to the game itself. Savescumming in Terraria is cheating for the same reason savescumming in Nethack is cheating.

Also I still want to see your character.

You won't get enchanted swords if you end up with the arkhalis. One shrine can give you either the arkhalis or the enchanted sword. If you find another shrine after getting the arkhalis, you don't break it. Why would you?

No. It can be done that way, but that's the long way, and, as you said, it requires external modification of the game's files. You can savescum without all that stuff. Simply turn off autosaving, save the game, go to the shrine's site, break the shrine and alt+f4 if you didn't get the arkhalis.

Also Starbound LOOKS great, and they're gradually fixing the gameplay, it's just that it has about 10% of the content it should and a lot of systems are just pants on head retarded compared to Terraria. Like for example imagine if the way you got weapons in Terraria was by occasionally coming across plus-sized zombies and killing them, and they would drop a random weapon of a random class with random stats and effects and a very low chance of being something like a Terra blade or Starfury (but mostly just standard trash swords and spears). Killing bosses in turn just allows you to craft the next tier of pickaxe so you can mine better ores and get better armour. That's Starbound's loot and weapon systems in a nutshell.

I don't get stutter on planets most of the time anymore, though sometimes mod-added planets seem to act up. If you use CLeF it greatly improves the spaceport fps by removing all of the wiring, though you may still get a drop because there's so many NPCs there.

Yep. Slime staff + greed ring = free money. I got like 200 platinum while idling overnight.

If you want to farm the machete and glove though, you should use a stronger summon, like the pygmy or pirate staff (if you have a greed ring then you probably also have a pirate staff)

Crimson/corruption/hallow don't affect mud or jungle blocks, only the stone that occurs there. The crimson probably won't spread much, but the wof beams might be an issue if there's enough stone.

Can someone tell me a sail-like material that makes white/grey/black paint a subtle difference instead of a horribly harsh one? Or a combination of sail-like materials, whichever. As you can see I'm trying to make segments having different "lighting" with paint so that the blimp looks 3Dish.
