You have to be incredibly naive if you think all the content that is funded by the console business model is going to just going to continue business as usual on PC if consoles disappear.

It should be pretty clear that the type of business model that works best on PC is entirely different, just look at the major players in PC-only gaming (Valve, Blizzard, Riot, etc). They make online-only games and F2P.
Valve used to make games, now they sell services, services that can't be pirated: trading cards, market place, compendiums and online-only games.
You have to realize that media as a service is a direct response to piracy, Netflix, Spotify, Steam etc, like Gabe Newell said "Piracy is a service problem".

Steam funding some quick and dirty console ports is one thing, funding original games of the same type is something else entirely.
Without consoles offline games with a budget higher than what you can get on kickstarter will be dead and buried.

Here's my problem with it. I like to game at my own pace. I don't want to feel rushed to beat a game. That means I wont be renting them so it's subscription or nothing. Also the subscription will add up. 20 a month i'd have to beat 1 game a month to feel like I got my money's worth. I'd much rather pay 20 for PS3 games, 10-15 for older games, and 30-35 for ps3 games. Just own it and play whenever. Fuck this straming shit why would they do that? Just let me buy the games I want instead of paying a subscription so I can play the 5 or 6 games I REALLY want to play. I'd rather just buy them.

Elder Scrolls Online deserves more love than it gets. That game is fun and addicting as fuck. I think the problem is there are a lot of lonely fucks who don't have friends to play with. If you have friends it's a lot more fun. If you're an elder scrolls fanboy the history will be amazing. Meeting all these famous historic figures and shit. It's not supposed to be Elder Scrolls 6 and I think that's the problem. People were expecting Elder Scrolls 6 and got this instead of it got a lot of hate. Isn't the fact that it exists on PS360 argument enough that it should be 60 fps on PS4? It's not like the servers are crossplay or anything. Everyone's divided up anyways.

I say the reason is more to the Destiny engine being an utter travesty so they just made a last-gen version and bumped the resolution for current-gen and called it a day.

Just watched the Second Renaissance episode of Animatrix again today and it has made me want a video game like it. Something where humanity has to unite against an overwhelming threat or something. It can be robots or aliens, I'm not bothered, I just like the concept.

Anything like that coming to PS4? What about Earth Defence Force, are those games good? I've never played them.

Also check out the Animatrix series if you haven't already, fuccbois. They're a bunch of prequel animations to the the Matrix series and way better than the actual films tbh

I'm not too familiar with the technical aspect of gaming but didn't the Driveclub devs use a different kind of rendering or something?

I remember reading somewhere that even though it's still 30fps, it looks a bit smoother than other 30fps games because of a post-processing technique they use.

Also I think Forza looks fucky in that video because all 60fps games look weird when recorded in 30fps. I found that all of the Phantom Pain videos I recorded with the PS4 looked really choppy like 24fps instead of 30 for some reason.

Doubt it is, KT outsources their translation all the time. That and IF started losing a lot of sales after they started porting games. RB1 sold well, but 2 and omega q flopped because no one bought them because they all are waiting for a PC version on sale. I mean, it wasn't the worst game I've ever played, and calling it an outright turd is a bit grand, but the combat was incredibly shallow, and the few times new mechanics were added, they were ripped away by long cutscenes that boiled down to nothing and unplayably annoying stealth sequences. It took an alright idea and filed it down into a game who's best asset is it's clothing physics. I can't understand how that game was cleared for a 1 and a half long hype marketing schedule. It's so barebones it feels like a tech demo we'd see shown off in the full games behind the scenes features. I'm also kind of grumpy that I spent $30 on it, but that was my fault.

Yes, which is why it won't last that long. The technical jump from PS3 to PS4 was the smallest jump in console history. And that was still after an exceptionally long gen. There's a reason why MGSV could be run on toasters on PC, because that's sort of what PS4 is.

I really don't mind since good art direction plus 60 fps will always be king anyways but how long until incompetent devs start to run into bottlenecks and cap their games at 24 fps again? This industry needs better and more accessible engines and hardware to work with, rather than powerful. Costs are already too high and many publishers can't even afford to push for graphics that stresses the console. So there are also some indications that the technological race might stagnate due to rising costs and time for game development.

Don't blame the console developers blame the PCfags who eat up all the new Graphics cards/processors the moment they hit store shelves.
Tech companies see this and go 'well no need to lower the price because people are willing the pay anyway' and as such we can't have higher end cards/processors in our consoles without the price going up.

Steam Survey stats are public.

You could argue they're unrepresentative due to the fact plenty of people who play games hyper casually or just have Dota 2 on some shitty computer might have a Steam account though.

Personally my PC is an i5 3570 and HD 7850 which isn't massively more powerful than a PS4 and I don't have any intention to upgrade it unless new releases start running really bad.

Even with a relatively expensive (1k-1.5k) gaming PC you're going to be picking trading off between max settings, above 60fps and above 1080 resolution for a lot of games.

This need to upgrade is exactly why gaming production is so expensive. What does it matter how fast technology grows, when people still watch 480p streams and TV? Most people upgrade every 10 or so years, be it TVs, cars, etc. And those PC specs are meanignless when surveys show most steam users. like 87% I think, run games under PS4 performance. Actually I grew up with Nintendo. Only Sega platform I had was a Master System. Did enjoy Sonic on it though. I really liked Adventure 2 on Gamecube but didn't play much else Sonic at the time. Then I got into Generations a lot a couple years ago.

Wonder when we'll get a PS4/X1 Sanic. Lost World was -okay- but Boom (which I skipped thankfully) was supposedly super bad. So unless they just go back to modern roots with a Generations/Colours/Unleashed (Day) style game I probably won't be too interested.

First of all, your logic is extremely ignorant and baseless. That would only make NAY sense if there were PSN games that would also work on Android. There are none, because it doesn't make sense. PSN software is coded and compiled for PS OS. Android apps are coded and compiled for Android OS and viceversa, simple as that, they're not compatible.
This is not the same case as with ports.
If there were a port of BG for PS4, you'd be able to play it on PS4, and even then it would be 100% unrelated to anything Play Store.

I would be happy with the 30 day trial. Instead they bundle the 2 week trial with the SYSTEM and the 30 day trial with the GAME. All while not mentioning that you can not use more than one trial. Not tank or healers, your best bet is probably archer even if they are mediocre.

The thing with lancers is they're really reliant on proper use of positioning and cooldowns, Puglists need proper juggling of their combos and tanks/healers require radically different mindsets compared to single player games.

Archer sucks but you can't fuck it up too bad.

I'm tired of MGSV and haven't finished it as well.
The gameplay and freedom to handle a situation how you want is great, no doubt about that, but there are like 4 mission types in total and even though there are 2 maps with lots of areas its all so similar.
I'll probably be getting Fallout 4 though.

I also go back to GTAO and just fuck around on occasion, I just spent like all my money customizing a new Lowrider with that new DLC, its gonna suck if they release any new shit I can't afford, might have to sell off some of my other cars.

GW2 was the only thing I was playing on it and it turned out to be meh. Was a GW1 so it was extra disappointing when it didn't live up tot the hype. Maybe I'll buy Fallout 4 when it goes on sale.

But yeah, I'm hype for U4, R&C, TLG, Horizon, GR2, and a bunch of JRPGs. Been buying multiplats more on PS4 mostly because I can always sell/trade in games when they turn out to be disappointing.

I believe the devs have commented that androids have some involvement in the story, and based on the sound of her eyelid in the trailer, the girl shown (who is one of the games three protagonists) is probably an android.

I think they also confirmed that Accord from Drakengard 3 will be at least referenced in some way.
