I've been using Sheng's but only the basic ones. No adventures/dust. Obviously that's a limitation but still.

Face hunter was an obvious choice but it requires more than I've got, and I don't know the best way to go about planning which cards for it I should go for first and shit.

This game just seems more and more P2W as I play..

What's the best counter to a hybrid face hunter kind of build? One of my only friends who plays consistently uses it and I'm getting pissed since I just started playing and can't really answer.

and yeah, its pretty shit but works fine for grinding dailies at rank 20.

it got me 10 wins in arena with a shaman deck, but seems to average between 2 and 4 wins with manual heartharena draft. wouldn't really recommend arena botting with it unless you have gold to waste.

hm yeah I just installed it and in the first game the bot just didnt play anything. he just mimiced a human by hovering over your hand cards and then passsed the turn.

testing it in unranked right now and it works. i dont know whats wrong

When thief priest was popular you didn't have people spamming shit like fagnaros and whatever, because if you use fagnaros the priest would MC the very next turn so people stopped using it.

It's okay. I can't say the exact w/l but I'd say it's something like 12/5ish right now around rank 10. It's a lot of fun, though. Not having shield slam and whirlwind hurts sometimes, though. I have Nefarian because he's my favourite card in the game and Rend is really up there too. I think this deck could get to legend if I tweaked it a bit.

The point is I want to play my meta decks but don't want to lose 10 ranks due to being high, so I play ranked decks in casual because there's no penalty for being a colossal fuck up.

Sometimes I just play dragon warrior though, or dick ass thief priest

Cards that decrease the negative effects of overload that are not shit like lava shock are needed. Like a decent body 2 or 1 drop with battlecry: Your next card with overload won't overload (but unbound ele should still trigger to not fuck over that mechanic). Too bad the totem choice mechanic is bound to justicar now, it should be a very cheap spell or with some minion that is way cheaper than 6 mana.

I feel the overload mechanic just is very bad design overall and I don't think there's going to be cards to fix that unless they blatantly say "Cards with Overload have their Overload cost set to (0)", which will be to "OP" as many will cry despite that being EXACTLY what shaman needs to be good.

So I tend to be hopeful and gravitate toward just plain good cards without it. Shaman's strongest card is Fire Elemental. No overload. Hex is great. Lightning storms sucks. Lightning bolt/crackle suck too, great the turn they're cast, abysmal the turn after.

Sadly, Lightning Storm is almost a staple card when trying to deal with the current opposing decks. Muster/Juggler Paladin, UtH Hunter, Tree Druids, etc. The overload cost needs to be cut to 1.

I also feel that our Hero Power needs fixing but I don't know how to go about that.

Another card that should be created is some good body that summons all hero power totems(and maybe with ability that allows to summon up to 2 totems of the same type from hero power so that it wouldn't lock up your hero power) , sort of like mysterious challenger but for shamans.

You almost always have to cast lightning storm or some overload card by turn 3-4. The next turn is almost always just a totem pass. This is why shaman is bad. Vs aggro your dead because you can't stave off damage or tempo to establish a board. Vs control half your cards are useless against bigger threats with hex being the only way out of chunkier threats warrior/priest run.

What if this guy was legendary? Think about it, by the time they reach turn six, having only one in their deck would limit the chance of them having it out by then.
Not only that, but playing one is usually a big moment that requires the opponent to use most of their board/removal to deal with, but when this gets played back to back turn six and seven, it's a nail in the coffin.

I'm just working on doing the heroic encounters for solo right now. I have no interest in ranked or arena play anymore excluding doing my daily quests.

Even the solo things aren't that fun, it's mostly just about getting insanely lucky. Like the fight with that weapon that hits you for 20 damage in the face or the four horsemen fight with infinite removal abilities.

Still more entertaining then going against the same few stupid ass decks.

You have almost a standard midrange list but your lategame sucks. You at least need Dr Boom for this deck to work. Another legendary like Sylvanas or Justicar is also important. If you don't have him even Ebola is better since you'll just get outvalued in the lategame. Also Tuskarr Jouster is shit, especially when your mana curve is lower than average for this deck archetype. Just use a healbot instead. If you have any other legendaries you could still make this deck work. You need like 2 more lategame minions, something like Rag or KT would be good replacements.

I would play arena a LOT more if arena wins counted towards the golden hero of the class I'm playing, and if 3 wins gave 10 gold like it does in brawl or even fucking casual mode.

A tournament mode where you have to pick 3/5 classes and beat someone else's 3/5 to move on would be interesting as hell, because it would break the aggro deck monotony of ladder.

There's a lot blizzard can do, they just seem to take forever to do anything.

Nah more of the fact that the deck is bad because to do any power plays you not only have to sacrifice help since your hero power equips a small ass weapon you also have to combo to do anything of note. This is inherently bad because in a card game you always want to get rid of the most amount of your opponents cards as you can while using as few of your resources as possible. Add into the equation that Rogues seem to have nothing absurdly broken to abuse (which most classes need these days) and you get a really subpar class.

Only way I win is if I have an opening hand of chow, shielded minibot, muster/consecrate.

I know excuses don't exist in /hsg/ but it just feels like any time I face aggro I don't get the correct cards and lose automatically. This seems worse for me on midrange pally than most decks.

Healbots can help but usually they're too late or not good enough.

This is the list I've been running to great effect, try creepers and blessings. This list is pretty heavily teched against fighting aggro of course, but it still has the potential to deal with big threats and dish out the beatings against slower decks as well if necessary.

it is shit if you're in a midrange/control meta where zoolock is the aggro and you're trying to kill the opponent ASAP. when warriors and priests and druids are everywhere, that's when flame imp is good because you don't mind taking some damage in order to kill your opponent faster and have better early trades. the life gain from the chow makes it bad here.

that strategy is really bad right now because we're in an aggro meta, especially one full of paladins and hunters which will out-aggro you every fucking time and use your hero ability against you. they will love you for playing flame imp, they will trade with their leper gnomes or minibots or squire coin muster or glaivezooka or scientist for it.

in short: chow is better right now because hunters and paladins are everywhere. the aggro kinds.

Mulligan for Kel'Thuzad, Forcetank Max and Ironbark/Volcanic. If you have KT in your opening hand, play him turn 2, not turn 1.

Sunwalker, Belcher and Annoyotron are nice but they don't actually kill anything on the board. They exist for you to get the Kel'Thuzad dream going. Put in two doomsayers if you have them.

still, especially in demonzoo with malganis, you generally want to survive until you can win with those big cards. flame imp is going to get you killed against hunters and paladins every time, that's the problem. chow can actually effectively deal with something like minibot, and is fine against aspirant/shredder if you boost his attack first which should be easy to do (why i like to run double dire wolf). in fact, if you go chow into dire wolf/abusive, it will kill an aspirant and still live. it's good void terror fodder too.

the only thing I lose to are face decks, so if I'm going to tech against something, I'd tech against that. because if I'm playing against decks that aren't destroying my face from turn 1, that means I'm against a matchup where I can effectively use my hero power and it's no problem. i still do just fine against the slower matchups even with chow in the deck, flame imp is not the make-or-break card of those matchups. you just play a bunch of cheap dudes, make effective trades, and draw 2 cards a turn and win. the aggro matchups are what you need help against.

i wish this were true. maybe i'm just unlucky, but every mage i run into has that turn 1 wyrm ready to go, every paladin has that turn 1-2 minibot. druids don't bother me since it's not the aggression but the trades that matter in that matchup, and chow doesn't really hurt that matchup since you just trade it early or taunt it up or just don't play it anyways. hunters are still everywhere on NA no matter the rank.

Just replace boom with another finisher then, maybe kel'thuzad if you have him or something along those lines, don't know what big legos you have. In all honesty you might just consider putting in a 2nd cult master, those things are amazing in shaman. You just set up an early board and then all of a sudden trade with their shit and draw like 3+ cards at once while leaving a 4/2 body behind. Great for a class that otherwise lacks good card draw.

It's true Deathlord will lose you some games if you're forced to play it when you don't have any form of removal in your hand. The end game is basically mindcontrolling your opponent's biggest threat and grinding as much value as possible with your removal as possible. I often find myself facetanking over ten damage to get better value of my lightbomb next turn.

Depends heavily on matchup.

Basically you want to mulligan for early game minions and velen's chosen.

Against hunters I usually keep a Belcher, a Holy Nova or a Healbot.

Against paladins a Shadow Word: Death or even a Lightbomb to have an answer to their turn six.

I started playing in beta and left during Naxx, just came back, so I'm way over having to do super budget decks, but at the same time there are very few I can make. Currently I play midrange shaman and patron warrior cause they're cheap (Surrender/Xixo post nerf deck), I also have facehunter but I dunno how to play aggro effectively and I think I could make a tempo mage save a couple cards. I'd like to play something else but I think (and only think, not sure at all) I can't make any good decks with my current collection. I have full BRM and 4 Naxx wings tho.

Our only weapon breakers are ooze and fedoraman, right? Why isn't Skeletal Smith an actual card? Make that shit a 4 drop and people would definitely run it. Not OP either, purely because it would take a shredder spot and it's only situationally useful compared to a FREE 2-drop.

Silence is arguably the most powerful effect in the game and I did notice there's surprisingly little of it; the Owl was the only option for the longest time till Spellbreaker and the others came along.

I think it should remain fairly limited, the Priest one is ridiculous enough as it is without everyone getting one just as dumb

I'm just saying, Silence is an important part of this game and if there was a little variety, people wouldn't pick owl all the time. Owl could be picked for the mana cost (like currently) or the beast synergy, or for face decks. Whereas if you had a stocky unit with a silence attached, control decks would run that instead of the owl.

Sort of the same with weapon break. Weapon break effects less classes so it's not as important, but variety is the spice of life and you can't tell me Skeletal Smith isn't a perfectly fine card for players to have.

how's sylvanas for you, btw? i feel like she never really gets value for me in this meta. personally i run a lower curve midrange with creepers and double BoK, but if i was going to run a slower version i feel like i'd rather have murloc knight instead of sylvanas (or if you run 1 knight 1 sylvanas i feel like i'd rather ju st have 2 knights). i feel like i can never pull off "the dream" with sylvanas against people. even worse with pally meta she'll often steal a 1/1 and it makes me sad, even against control she'll get owl'd by handlock or exe/SS by warrior.

Sort of but not really? Echo Mage is pretty much straight up inferior to Freeze Mage. Even if you get your sweet draws, it's possible to play out late before you get the payoff on the Echo and it's just as strong or quick a threat as the high/infinite burn.

You don't have to, they're mostly commons and you'll get them in packs soon enough. Shredder is good in a lot of decks though, so I would go with that first.

Card draw is important, but the two arcane intellects you have are good enough, and you don't have such a low curve that you run danger of running out of cards that quickly. Loot hoarder is mostly used in combo decks that want to draw through their deck as quickly as possible.
