does anyone else have trouble punishing shit like vega rolls and rashid semi-mash tornados? SFV has weird fucking blockstun, some moves put you in an assload of blockstun while others put you in such a small amount it's a little hard to adjust to get the reversal timing.

which is odd because the reversal window is the same as sf4.

I'm having fun as fuck. I can understand people's complaints, but it's not like it's all black-or-white. If we do the obvious and compare it to SFIV, some things were changed for the better, some for the worse. Some were just changed without becoming better or worse. They're just different.

I think it's going to be a great game. The only thing I think could get in the way is if Capcom goes the way of LoL once the game is released, meaning:
1. They don't balance only based on data they get from the pros, they also balance based on what scrubs are crying is OP, when in fact it isn't.
2. They balance by nerfing everything, so in the end fights are slow and boring as fuck and nothing is interresting about any character.
We'll have to wait untill the game is actually released to see if that happens, though.

PC version of the beta is kinda unoptimized, downloaded that skidrow "crack" to test it out

i have a 980ti and the thing drops down down to sub-30 fps during critical arts. hope they fix it for release since it looks glorious in 4K. i suppose at 1080 or 1440p it would run at 60fps constant but the game doesn't look that demanding to have such a drastic drop. maybe running at 4k 60fps constant maxed out is too much for a single 980ti though, can't really do that with any new game.

input lag from a pcb on a stick is a consistent source of delay. it won't fuck up combos or 1f links since it's CONSISTENT. the delay could fuck up your reactions to things like jump ins and such but the delay in the kai is well under human reaction time

no human being on earth reacts within 1 frame and even with traditional LCD delay of 3 - 6ms (bringing the total up 20ms or so). that's less than 2 frames.

the delay is completely inconsequential unless the TV you are playing on is so laggy it would fuck you up no matter what stick you used.

cr mp if you're right on them

s.hp if you can hitconfirm into run cancel into cr lp (it's negative on block and jabable)

also if you do b.mp s.hp you should follow up with heavy tatsu, it does more stun and the same damage, also better corner carry

s mp into fireball cancel into v trigger is a great combo starter as well, leaves you right on them so you can follow up with s.hp run cancel b.mp s.HP heavy tatsu (or b.mp into light tatsu into super). It's also a safe way to activate v trigger on block

don't abuse forward-hp, it's slow as fuck and means you're gonna get jumped by a hk

Yes, it's something that you need to do very early on a jump, so you have to read and react quitckly. But it isn't particularly slow. It's what I have been using with quite a bit of success.

Aren't both of his claw LPs special cancellable? Yeah, generally you'll be using the med QCB for that. Try the QCB claw crap for mixup on wakeup though, it seemed to work pretty well when I quick rise.

I'm assuming they gave Vega the QCB stuff for people who quickrise, and then clawless walldive for when they roll.

The first month or so of SF4 was the same way, where nobody used focus attacks because they were all still playing it like it was SF2. Now everyone's playing SF5 like it's SF4. Later on they'll be more prevalent.

nah, being in the corner is legit scary against certain characters, and if you can't escape the corner easily (vega) it's invaluable

vega for instance has no reversals/dp, so they gave him a claw v reversal to try to get out of shit

rashid just has your usual back out of shit v reversal, but he has ex nado/super with startup invinc to get out of things

Tick throws don't even work anymore or you have to be frame perfect with them. Meaning you don't have any reliable way of breaking someone open. Just whiff and block normals and hope you don't get memed on since fireballs don't work.

SFV is rough due to the characters, but the pacing of the game is top notch, and I feel like the game is fun as balls

being rewarded for maintaining the offense is huge, there's a lot less chance you'll lose for keeping life lead then there was in SF4

Roll is around -1 or -2. You can't jab the startup if they're doing a true block string. You can jab the roll if he does it raw or did a fake string since normals on block have an advancing guard. cr.LP roll is a true block string, cr.LK cr.LP is also true. The common mistake a lot of bad vegas do is two jabs or medium kick, the first hit of the roll will whiff.

See the range of claw jab is why its good when pressured since a lot of players think this is SF4 still. What happens is they'll push themselves out of their own block string and Vega will get a free jab. Thats how I've been getting out of pressure.

Are you not reading what he's saying. He's saying this only happens if its not a true string. The first hit of the roll whiffs and you can punish with jab. If you're having success with that then its because they're pushing themselves far enough that the first hit of roll whiffs

Blizzard releases a beta that is basically the finished game so they can make the last few gameplay tweaks before the real release.
