I have mixed feelings about the direction the game is taking. Simplyfing Street Fighter may be one of those changes that could end up being both good and bad. It's nice to don't end up with extremely strict techincal executions in order to improve your whole gamestyle rather than trying to learn 1f link combos like SF4. On the other hand, learning techincal stuff felt a lot engaging and part of satisfaction in a fighting game. I don't know what to think about it.

Well remember this is the second SF in a row not being developed in-house and with a has-been American on the team. DIMPS doesn't understand how to make fighting games by themselves so the games that they make reflect the tastes of the Americans they consult. Also ST was simple as fuck and it was also very good and very fun.

So don't dash in expecting you can just dash away after a knockdown? They added quickrise exactly to make knockdowns less advantageous for the attacker. If they keep jabbing at a distance after wakeup you can still counterpoke them or throw a fireball.

-Throws are terrible. We wouldn't need more ways to have complex mixups on opponents in every fucking 2D fighting game if throws were actually good.
-The normal range is fucking awful. What's even more damning is that the animations just outright LIE about the range on these normals

There literally isn't a fireball game in SFV. All characters either have a special move that you can basically confirm the moment they throw it or just jump in because everyone's jumping arc is fast as shit.

Honda could kind of do that in ST, deny your fireballs, but you could also SRK him out of his headbutt. I would know because I do it all the time. In SFV the moves that fuck up fireballs are so difficult to react to so there's no reason for anyone to respect your fireball game.

I've been doing fairly well with throws as Ken in the beta and this is coming from someone who played characters like Chun in SFIV. It's just different, but I'm still tick throwing and using it as a mixup.

You just explained a mixup, I have no problem with mixups and I know what they are. But having a shit ton 50/50s and a few unblockables into the game like street fighter with almost little defensive options like Guilty Gear or even Blaze blue reduces it to guesses, it doesn't add anything to the game.

There are bigger problems than the gimmick sure, but I think that the quote is really poignant since it's indicative of all 2D fighting game development beginning with Alpha 3.

It's clear that the people making SFV don't understand 2D fighting games. They're making a lot of big changes but not a lot of the little ones that made the various versions of SFII so interesting despite a lack of "depth."

Look at the roster. It's 75% rushdown, and not only is it rushdown, but it's the worst kind of braindead, mash buttons and mixups rushdown. Even ST Vega and Balrog had more thinking to do.

If you save videos on fraps you can then go frame by frame on Media player classic using the keyboard arrows, and Alt+i to save the shot you want.
If you have a good machine fraps is the only one that can save totally uncompressed videos but beware its over 2gb per minute of vid. My toaster is not the best tbh

The "FGC" is just a PR outlet for Capcom games and if anything loses them money. If prominent fighting game players spoke out about SFV being bad Capcom would just drop all of their focus on the "serious" playerbase and events like Capcom Cup would be disbanded or be retooled as a scripted marketing exhibition.

For any Cammy players that played her in the Beta 1 Phase did you notice that you can no longer do TK ex cannon strike.

Either my execution has really dropped or they just took it out completely. That is my number one disappointment about this version of Cammy. I'd hit TK ex cannon strike and it would set up for some nasty cross up/fake cross up set ups. Perhaps, they thought that was too cheap?

Man, they really fucked up Cammy. Not just nerfs for understandable reasons, but actually useless, bad changes for the character. Same for Ryu, but in a lesser extent (at least the character is still solid).

Don't get the amount of negativity for Nash though. The only things he lost are his cr.hp, b.mk xx lp.Sonic Boom combo and HP Tragedy Assault no longer being an overhead. He's still pretty much the same from the previous beta phase.

From playing Cammy in the first phase to playing in the second phase it is clear that they definitely nerfed her. Her worst nerf being her back HP that thing would stuff everything in the air. However, her back mp is still good to anti air, and she has her cannon spikes, which are good to anti air. Unfortunately, her f + HK to B + HP is no longer a thing. That was so good and you could cancel into V-Trigger for some massive damage.

I still think she has some of the best footsies in the game right next to Vega. Her walk speed is insane, which actually allows her to do some tick throw set ups. I wasn't doing as well as I did the first phase, but I still think she's good. However, who knows if she will end up the same by phase 3 or the end product. Here's to hoping they don't nerf her even more.

One thing I have found that has annoyed me to no end is the insane ease of block strings and lock down. I am a rush down type player and have taken pride in learning frame traps and timing necessary to lock a person down. Now every tom dick and harry i fight is throwing out mediums, light and fierces (and in some cases special moves) with ZERO gap for me to retaliate. There is no way everyone is just magically that good.

I wonder if anyone has ever heard of an issue with the TE2 PS4 Guilty Gear Xrd Fightstick where your character gets stuck blocking when another character throws out a move (for example Blanka's Electric Thunder.) I'm standing in front of my friend trying to walk back to get away or punish effectively, but anything within a quarter screen away gets me stuck blocking (when he let's I can walk back again.)

Fast enough buttons inbetween their strings. People can't keep pressing buttons indefinitely because of pushback so at some point they have to either go for a poke hoping you finally stop blocking but if you don't they'll be pushed back even farther, or they have to walk back in at which point you can hit them because they're holding forward.

How do I even play birdie? I mean his tools seem great for zoning; he got good buttons, chains and even a ranged command grab. Then there are also his bull rush that feels awkward to use when not in his v trigger and command grab which sort of makes people respect you up close but not really since it has no range or invincibility.

Beta 1 balance was way better IMO. Now everybody feels like a wet noodle. The big damage is (mostly) gone and you still get basically no advantage off of knockdowns outside the corner. Throws are SFxT 2012 status. Karin's backthrow is so bad she's actually at frame disadvantage if her opponent quick rises.

Normals have so much pushback on hit there's no way to link more than 2 into a combo in 90% of situations. Some characters can't even get two mediums unless you are absolutely point blank in their face.

The whole game just feels underwhelming. The only character I actually enjoyed playing in beta 2 was Cammy, and that's because she still gets some kind of pressure from Spiral Arrow knockdown, inb4 they give it triple the knockback for beta 3. I hope they revert to beta 1 status please with maybe a small nerf to combo damage from super moves. Keep the lights not linking into mediums though, that's cool.

So im playing an rmika. He does like 4 low shorts after a blocked crossup and sometimes he'll throw. If I tech throw during the blockstrings I get counter hit. If I mash jap I get counter hit and still thrown

i'm having a bit of trouble with fireballs now can't really slide under them. i try and get in range to where i can snatch them with up with his chain. quick rises are killing any setups with the banana peel though.

Second of all you block his shorts and anticipate his throws. You can tech in anticipation if he does it early or you can jab him if he tries to walk back in after a couple of blocked shorts.
