You're totally right fam, getting 10 actually above average cards for 3500 gold is certainly retarded, but on the other hand those 10 cards are the only ones that possibly keep you from playing classes like warrior cause death bite is bonkers, hunter isn't really an option w/o scientists and creepers and most warlock demon oriented decks are playable thanks to voidcaller. Buying adventures or not is up to you tho

Decks that are competitive enough to take games off of the best decks. These decks often suffer from a few slight weakness such as comeback mechanics or draw consistency. Tier 2 decks can even prey on the Tier 1 decks by using deliberate tech switches which allows the player to cruise into more ladder wins and ranks.

I feel like the more I play this game, the less I want to play this game.

I want to play something that requires skill. At least then I can be like, "oh, that guy was way better than me, I need to practice so I can try to play at the same level because he's so good", at least then I can understand that I lost because the opponent was actually better than me at the game in some way that I was deficient in.

I mean, yeah, RNG fucking you over here or there isn't that big of a deal. But on the times when it happens multiple games in a row, and there's nothing you can do about it... I just want to quit. What's sad is no matter how large my card collection grows, this will never change. It's not like I can do something to get some cards other people can't get. Once you get past rank 15 all you face are fully formed netdecks anyways, so there's no advantage to be gained with your collection.

Shaman benefits a lot from creeper and nerubian egg (unless you are playing mech shaman), and you can make some fun decks with reincarnate.

Priest gains things like dark cultist, sludge belcher and deathlord.

Rogue has always been the best class in arena for good players. It's not as easy to play as paladin and mage but if you can play it well it's better than both of them.

I used to stay away from rogue when I first started playing but now I always pick it when it's available. It's also a lot more fun than paladin and mage

I don't understand how to beat Handlock. What would you have done here? I have tried going for the face to setup a combo and then they either drop moltens and taunt up or healbot out of range. I've also tried waiting it out and dealing little damage until I can combo them out but run into the same problem, they taunt me out of the game. If I try to make a big board to contest the giants it gets shadowflamed. So I'm not really sure what I should be doing here.

Play Lore and fish for roar. Don't attack, you shouldn't even let him get lower than 20.

Druid is EXTREMELY favored to win against Handlock, it's nearly impossible to lose that match up.

Your minions are extremely annoying to deal with for him in Shredder, Lore etc. Hellfire does nothing and Shadowflame isn't that great either unless he uses it on a Mountain.

You only need ONE minion to kill him at 20 with combo. That's more than doable. Make sure to always cycle with Wrath in this match up, if you have left over mana and Wrath just use it on your own minions if he doesn't have any.

After 2 years I used my actual money to buy an adventure, and while it was actually better than I thought it would be $25 is a little steep and I felt dirty afterwards. Should I just save golf for the other one or just keep spamming arenas?

Who the fuck are these people playing cancer aggro decks like eboladin and face hunter and shit like that and win streaking?

It feels like every time I'm like "OKAY FINE I'LL JUST PLAY CANCER THEN" I, without fail, either get shitty draws like drawing all of my secrets early or getting a bunch of 3-4 drops in my opener, or I run into the super anti-aggro healy decks with turn 1 zombie chows and deathlords or healbots or some shit like that. I don't know what to play anymore to be able to climb ladder consistently, I don't know any deck that can avoid the possibility of outright getting shit on by luck of the draw or of the RNG. When it happens multiple times in a row it makes me want to not even try to play anymore.

Is the quest mechanic capable of triggering multiple times, if the condition is met?

If so then yeah the card is OP; drop it and use your board clear to completely swing tempo from any aggro deck to a control deck, but if the card itself has to kill an enemy, or if the effect can only trigger once, then it's literally a worse loot hoarder.

And thank god that's the case, because you must have never been to a FNM while being an adult, not a fucking high schooler. It's legitimately awful. You can't even have fun anymore with trying to trade up and make a profit on your collection. Everyone has a smart phone with internet access or at least wifi, EVERYONE will look up the prices of every card before trading, you can't make a profit for shit. I feel bad for this generation, man.

Besides, even in MTG once you're in your 20's you realize how RNG shit is. It's just that instead of RNG cards, you have to deal with mana/color screw/flood, and the shit-tier mulliganing system. Your deck is 60 cards instead of 30 and generally around third or so of it is just mana, you don't get +1 mana every single turn. You get games where people just flat-out lose and don't even get to play because this happens in some form. Mulligans require you to shuffle your ENTIRE hand back into the deck (7 cards), and draw a brand new hand -1 card (so 6, then 5, then 4, etc). Do it even twice and you're at a significant disadvantage for the whole match.

In short: competitive card games are a joke. They're very fun but should in no way be taken seriously, though. If people just had fun and stopped tryharding so much, it would be a lot better.

Yeah. I watched the pro tour magic and it's literally the same shit as hearthstone. After a few turns and it's topdeck war, people loses before they didn't draw their siege rhino and get fucked by siege rhino. It's a little bit more complex with the blocking but in the end it still comes down to 'you better topdeck the answer to my card'

I don't dust any cards (even beastial wrath) except for the worst of the worst. It's still fun because I can do my daily relative easy with my collection, unlike many other who dust cards to make 1 completed deck for 2 classes.

Divine Favor is the Warsong Commander of Secret Paladin. I can deal with Mystery Man if I have the right hand, but Divine Favor is one of those shitter cards that enables the dumbest shit- you can dump your hand with no thinking and then punish your opponent for having card advantage and not being a retard. Competitive Yugioh is actually really good. Decks do what they do consistently and have incredibly complex decision trees, and bad matchups are mitigated with a 15 card sideboard (your deck is 40). I played it for years and I very rarely felt like I lost due to RNG except for a few shitty formats.

The only downside is that top decks are $500+ and Jewnami blatantly bans all the good cards from the last format so you'll buy their new shit.

I keep wondering how this mechanic would fare:

"replace your hero power by the next spell you play. It costs two more."

The wording may be awkward but basically if you play a fireball, it replaces your hero power by fireball and it costs 6 mana to use.

I feel like it would be insanely OP but I fail to see why.

As far as I'm aware 'poisoned blade' isn't even a WoW item.

Perdition's blade was a drop from Ragnaros. Assassin's blade was a Shadowfang Keep drop.

It's not like there aren't hundreds of WoW items they could choose to make the name of the card. Krol blade, thrash blade, hanzo sword, serpent slicer, etc.

I don't know the current meta but yugioh 1-2+ years ago was objectively way more complex than hearthstone, and while deck diversity might make your locals more fun in a competitive environment it reduces the amount of times the better player wins because of matchup variance.

I'm currently laddering, performing a fucking balancing act between rank 15 and 16.

I'll win a few, then lose a few and get knocked back down. My win rate is at 40%

I'm trying to run with this deck which is very similar to Trump's Tempo Mage in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkCsM-vymnY

The only replacements are Emperor Thaurissan for Toshley and an extra Mech Yeti instead of the Shredder, to compensate for Toshley's loss.

Any mages out there got some tips aside from the obvious git gud?

I may have okay cards, but it seems I'm not playing them to their fullest strength.

Take out Thaurissan and put in another Arc Missiles. Take out one Flamecannon for Flamestrike.

Hard to say what you're doing wrong. How many games have you played? If you're there for a while it's most definitely you. The deck like this can easily reach Legend.

Those replacements don't make sense. Thaurissan is for control or combo decks, an aggro deck doesn't get enough from him. You can use Loatheb instead for a whole mana cost less and a more relevant ability.

Piloted Shredder is one of the more OP cards in the game. I know you want the spare parts for combo wombos, but it's not worth it. Also ditch the clockwork gnome. Could probably run a Skillstrike cause meta gone pretty aggro.

Kezan isn't even that good against Secret Paladin unless you are stealing an Avenge on curve or something. Hunters have flare which is way better against Paladin, so I'm guessing he was teching against Mage and Hunter more than Paladin.

You are wrong. The best answer to turn 2/3 Fel Reaver is BGH, and then you barely burn any cards. And who mulligans for BGH?

On turn 2/3 if you haven't drawn your answer to an 8/8 you pretty much just lose.

For anyone who have not played yugioh, pic related was the equivalent of dropping mysterious challenger. Now imagine dropping mysterious challenger on turn one and offering the handshake because you know they lost.

Not in my experience. The moment you lose the board, you lose the game. Meanwhile Fel Reaver's burnt any combo possibility of that final burst to finish them off.

Out of 18 games I've had a Fel Reaver deal damage only once, the rest it was destroyed the next turn in cheap combos, held off by taunt, or frozen.

Is there anything I could do to make this better? I tried the reynad method of going full-on charge and using no owls but owls are completely fucking necessary from my experience, so I put them back in. Would be nice if I could fit in arcane golem but I feel like that would be too many 3 drops (especially for a deck trying to get divine favor value as often as possible), I'd rather have chargers I could just play on turn 3 if necessary, also not sure about consecrate, like maybe it's better to just go all face damage?

Yeah sometimes that happens but other times geddon is just a better brawl, he gives you initiative on the board and he has to be dealt with, whereas with brawl you give them initiative and they just flood the board again.

geddon is one of the best cards in ctrl warrior and I can't imagine a list without it

i hate to say it, but productivity-wise, if you REALLY want to climb ladder, you'd be best served by learning how to play a super aggressive deck as perfectly as possible.

aggro decks are already at an advantage since they often have such consistent starts and have reach or burst to win, but they are also built to end games as quickly as possible. why is this important? because to overcome variance, you NEED to play a large volume of games. so obviously, the decks that can play more games per hour more consistently are favored, plus they're generally easier to play if for no other reason than that you only need to perfect how to play no more than the first 10 turns of the game of any matchup, often far less than 10.

focus on building (or netdecking) decks with winning ASAP on your mind at all times. hunter and paladin are good picks. that's how you ladder effectively.

When is it correct to plop Loatheb down on the board vs another 5-drop or a few lower cost cards?

I usually drop him at 5 mana crystals when I'm not playing versus mage. If I am playing vs mage, I try for a preemptive anti-Flamestrike Loatheb at 7.

If he's against another X/5 on five it's good since you're guaranteed to contest most of the time, if you have board advantage he's good because it stops a lot of clear, and he's good to save at the mana cost your opponent would need to do a big combo.

That's why Loatheb is good, there's very few times not to drop him down at 5.

If it would be a bad time for Loatheb then you know you need a big play to win anyway.

Silence only makes up for a small part of control and the only reason it is good is because it's not direct removal so it can get around Deathrattle and it's cheap (often being free or baked into another card for less than 1 mana in "cost").

So you would only put it on something with Deathrattle. You drop it down on something with Deathrattle and you've wasted (8) mana to buff up a Shredder only for it to get sheeped next turn or something. The removal game is varied so something that only accounts for one type is actually pretty shit and silence is already a very specific mechanic to use.

You know what's better than "can't be silenced"? The "can't be targeted by spells or hero power".

Also it's bad as a new mechanic because it's just going "you can't use X on me" which in turn turns into "well my W bypasses that" and then by next year the new "anti-anti-anti-bypass-anti-pro-neo silence comes out".

That's different. You can still play something with taunt and the knight just kills it as the battlecry. At that points there's no incentive to make a "can't be killed by taunt killing cards" card.

It's the same thing with Deathrattle or cards immune to being targeted by spells. They aren't actually "immune" to death or spells (well the spell thing sort of) but there's an incentive to not directly kill deathrattle (or at least you know what you're getting when you kill it) and something being immune to target spells doesn't make it immune to spell mechanics.

If you have a card that is strictly "this mechanic does not work on me in any way" then that's a little much because that sets up the idea of "okay you can just make cards that are actually completely negating other effects".

If the idea is "can't be slience" was changed into "cannot be hit by enemy minions ever (mega stealth) or "literally cannot be effected by spells in any way" then that becomes a problem.

If you release them all, then people are likely to 'choose' which they want and not get more than their favourite hero.
Releasing them part by part gives people the impression that they can afford them all (Or at least more than one) and gives them a sort of collection property.

Me, too. But with the state of the game, I don't think that 'adding' more stuff will help.
To be honest, they should just have heroes start with 60hp so aggro decks have to actually plan ahead and have more than one and two drops in their deck.

Yep! Those decks run lots of burn and cheap temporary buffs too and those spells stack with the swiftspear's prowess.

If you have Justicar or Sylvanas put one or the other in for KT. Otherwise it's fine. The two Blessing of Kings, the second Equality and the Loatheb could get swapped around for other stuff depending on the meta you're facing.

Are you guys saying that attacking a hero with an attack value wont cause the attacking creature to take damage?

Ive never actually run into this situation so I dont know. But I assume the minion would take damage.

This would cause mental anguish. Either lose out on tons of damage by not attacking, or attack and risk losing your board.
Also is should be named Molten Armor. Thats an actual mage spell. Or at least it was, for all I know its one of the spells they removed from wow. They took out a ton of content from that game

Games often feel like you need perfect answers for what your opponent does or you're just out. I see two solutions to this.

A) Give players more time to make a possible comeback. This could be achieved by increasing hero HP or adding more disabling/interrupt mechanics like pacify, freeze, stun, banish, etc. to buy yourself time.
B) Give players tools to reliably get perfect answers. Library searching isn't really a thing in Hearthstone.

It wouldn't damage the minion. Think about when a minion attacks a class with a weapon up. It doesn't kill the minion (Which is why I made this OC a couple of months ago). The only exception that I can think of is when Misdirection is procced. Then a minion attacking face with weapon is damaged.

That's because weapons are only equip during your turn. If you somehow had attack on your turn there's no reason it wouldn't behave like a minion.

Your weapon is not active during your opponents turn
During your opponents turn, even if you have a Death's Bite equipped, you still have an attack value of 0.

If you have an attack value and are hit by a minion, it takes damage. You give an example of that in your own post.

Yea, I was basing it around Freeze Mage. Didn't want it being equipped and then fireball, fireball, frostbolt being used in the same turn.

What if it's spell power is 2? That's 21 damage from the combo next turn.

I think people stopped playing league because of how fucking long the games go now.

Hearth is quick and luck allows shitters to think they're good, so they stay invested for a while longer. It's only dry because everyone is waiting on the next Adventure.
