Because the charged attack with the axe is an overhead 2 handed attack that does a shitload of damage. If he could use pistols with it as well it would be much stronger than the rapier.

It isn't at all complex. There's no need for a tutorial. The first mission is stupid easy and has the characters yelling out how to play/basic tactices during it.

Learning by doing is a lot more effective than handholding.

Why does Witch Hunter seem so fucking weak? I have a blue rapier and it's so shit. I play literally every class and Witch Hunter just seems so fucking weak.

My orange bow on my WW shits on specials on hard in literally one hit, and since it's trueflight I barely have to aim. Dagger + sword is strong as fuck too.

My dwarf wrecks practically everything using a blue 2H hammer or my orange mace + shield. I absolutely destroy everything with it. High damage, insanely good knockback and mobbing.

My Wizard's blue conflag staff pierces enemies and does shittons of damage, the aoe is insanely strong and the sword has a huge sweep which furthers her mobbing potential

If you are using anything BUT the empire rifle handgun then you are doing something horribly wrong. The WH repeater is better since its instant and can explode tanks with strength pots more effectively, but the brace of pistols can do the same and has range.

The normal attack is super-fast and cleaves through multiple rats and a bit of practice will get you to trigger the headshot bonus on like half you swings, giving you the joy of watching all dem Clanrat/salve heads pop off. And the stab fucking murders specials and stormvermin. And then you get a couple pistol shots as a bonus just because.

Is there a difference between the two types of swords for the Bright Witch? Also is there some mechanic I don't know about concerning the overheat meter? It's got those indicators about a third of the way through the bar and the flaming screen effect but I'm not paying enough attention in the middle of a swarm to really take note of any changes.

If you manually vent (by pressing R) between the two marks, you can get rid of your heat build up without taking any damage. After going past those lines venting will cause you to take some damage based on how far past the lines you are.

As for the swords, it feels like the normal, non-flame swords swing faster and have a faster charge attack, but the flaming sword's charge attacks will apply a DoT effect on whatever you hit.

The Fire Sword has less of an arc, so fewer targets, but it does more single target damage, also burns (damage over time). Looks cooler.

The normal sword can do headshots.

You only take damage from manually venting (pressing R) if your heat is above that pip at around a third of the way through. Other than that the only damage you take is if you completely max out the bar and explode.

It is completely normal to regularly be above that first pip. Depending on what staff you're using, use it against groups/specials until it's hot, then use melee until it cools down.

It seems like the way to play BM in cata is to only use the staff to dmg and the sword to block, it takes ages to kill anything with even an epic sword (6-7 swings on a normie) Conflag staff with some type of regrowth/bloodlust/vent reduct/vent dmg reduct mods. Had a ton of successful cata HoMs today. Her sword slashes are simply too slow and weak to even consider attacking anything. All overheat damage pretty much gets healed off with the mods. Having an instant kill sword or some type of vent cooldown on hit sword would be dank

Shield block is just too good to give up, getting hit in cata is too much a risk to not use a shield for that aoe push. Plus having 6-7 block is amazing. Elf/WH/BM pretty much clear most shit, the only damage the soldier needs is his rifle since he can still 1 shot every special with it even in cata. The soldier/dwarf just aren't supposed to rekt things in cata they just have to hold back hordes/distract ogres(while a WH explodes them)/ and dome storm vermins and specials when they can.

it runs extremely poorly. graphics itself are mediocre

game is basically early access. It runs worse and has far more glitches than something like KF2, and that won't be out of EA for another 6 months at the earliest

I've seen plenty of good Witch Hunters. The problem is a lot of the people who play him gimp themselves by using the brace of pistols. The best ranged weapon on him is a crossbow with the reload speed upgrade.

But the shield block aoe and charge attacks just hits absolutely everything, and 2H charge hits everything and in cata that's what soldier/dwarf absolutely needs to do since they do it best out of all classes. 1H doesn't sweep and its push aoe is tiny in comparison, I have a dope 1h epic mace but I just don't see the benefit using it over the sword and board. Soldier and dwarf should try and stick to something with a shield and drakefires/rifles until something gets changed with 1H. Basically keeping rats stunned is what the soldier and dwarf are best at, if they do that then a cata run is very easy

Get a blue/orange rapier, swipe at packs of enemies, lunge at specials/individual enemies. Lunge + backdash is great for dealing with most enemies. White rapier is just bad because of how it scales.

The WH shouldn't be a sniper, the elf and soldier do that much better since the soldier rifle will one shot anything even in cata with a blue rifle, and the elf just has so much ammo to blow.

Why are gutter runners and packmasters so bullshit? Gutters move around like physics don't affect them and fucking FLY from point to point so that you can't get a shot at them. At least with hunters they had a fair movement pattern but Gutter runners play like they have a lagswitch and noclip.

Packmasters are even worse. They seem to have infinite range whenever the fuck they feel like and can grab through walls. I just got pulled right the fuck off the elevator near the end of HoM right as it started going up and I had the grimoire. Team couldn't do a single fucking thing about it.

Its not so much that the handgun isn't good its just that the dwarf doesn't need to use it since the DF pistols exist and do above average dmg, infinite ammo, and knockback. The soldier is pretty much limited and needs to use the handgun since his other choices are very weak. Cata is more about keeping the bad shit away from the "dps" and the DF pistols tenderize and knockback pretty well for someone to clean up. The BM is probably going to be getting most of the kills in cata since the conflag staff is just incredibly strong and clears everything. Basically keeping the bad stuff away from the BM and WH will result in a good run. Elf and soldier should really be the only ones sniping specials.

If you have the Drakefires, you just altfire straight at them. You'll hit the special like 12 feet away, through all the other mobs, without damaging your ally. Then you can spin around and clear all the rats, too.

Drakefires stunlock specials anyway. You can run straight at whatever you want to kill while firing away and laugh as they're unable to start shit. The only thing you can't stop is a Ratling Gunner who is ALREADY FIRING at you.

Also this. If you fuck up your rifle shot or there are rats nearby, that's it. You might get off a second shot if you have the 50% reload, you might not. With the pistols, you can clear the nearby chaff with a single shot each (killing or at least knocking them down and setting them on fire) and continue fire at the special. Straggling skaven and large groups simply aren't a concern.

You get to spam the fuckers all game long since you also have no reliance on ammo. It is immensely useful.

38 hours or so of play 70% of which are 2grim3Tome Nightmare runs with my 4 man group. I used to think the Beam was too heat expensive but I've come around. LMB for groups or close specials, and RMB for far away specials, melee for everything else, you're golden.

Because it's bugged. The AoE deals no friendly fire so you can plop it down on top of your team and not worry about it. It and beam staff are probably tied for best staff, beam staff will be better once conflag gets fixed.

Plus another absolutely amazing benefit with the conflag charge is that the life on hit proc pretty much goes off constantly since its hitting tons of enemies, it pretty much heals you to full if you have good mods.

I played a couple of games with one of the devs, Robin, who confirmed that it was a bug. I'm paraphrasing but he asked "Is it still really?" when another guy in our party said he would switch to BW so he could use the conflag staff because it has no friendly fire. I said that it seems like it hits sometimes although very rarely, and he responded saying something along the lines of "It's a bug".

So I'm convinced that it's a bug. Expect a fix within the next patch or two.

During hordes, get behind a shieldbro and LMB/vent/LMB/vent etc. One LMB blast doesn't take you above that heat pip.

A horde or special will take your heat to anywhere between 50% to 90% heat, switch to melee and let it cool off after the big threat is dealt with.

also dorf is short so you can shoot/attack over him easier and on harder difficulties you don't need to worry about friendly fire as much

soldier is my second favorite to dorf but he does feel unnecessary. I would have loved a bretonnian knight or pally instead. could have gave him a lance or something like that

It isn't, but compared to the other maps it's still way more difficult. It's also hard to deal with a rat ogre spawning right on top of you because of the buggy spawn locations while you're trying to deal with three storm vermins no matter what difficulty you are playing on. The level certainly has a pretty big luck factor going for it.

Rifle's all you need until you get Drakefires, but a Grudgeraker could be useful too if your teammates aren't garbo at sniping specials. Piercing, heal on hit/kill, and the double magazine size are all good on the shotgun.

Also, the blue wasn't that great either. The overcharge reduction is only 14% chance, and it only procs on powered attacks. If only I rolled a 20%.

I look for image edges. So I'm finding where the bars start, where the bars end and where the skull is. This gives me a stat between 0 and 100 which can then be used for comparision in my upcoming tables.

I'm working on getting it to take the image thumbnail and stats such as armor pen as well.

LMB for packs, RMB for specials/stormvermin/individual rats. The lunge + backdash is extremely potent to kite enemies with. Push when you are overwhelmed. Make sure you are staggering all the enemies that you are focusing, or that someone else is, so you don't get attacked. The LMB can easily stagger 4-5 rats at a time if you just aim properly. Try to aim around the head with both attacks as both can headshot. Stop treating him as a ranged character when he clearly isn't intended as one.

Sorry I meant LMB and hold LMB. I've been up forever and am pretty exhausted. Just use your ranged weaponry where it's necessary. Use them to kill specials at a distance, help out allies, to slaughter a skaven horde storming through a chokepoint without getting in harm's reach. If you're using the dual pistols you should pop a potion and unleash a barrage on the Rat Ogre.

The optional attack with the rapier is also fairly useful to just weaken down units while you are covering distance. You don't need to kill anything with it necessarily but might as well use it while you are covering the distance anyway. Pretty damn useful to deal with gutter runners too.

Just tried to do hard a few times to unlock nightmare with pubs
>lvl 5 WW, lvl 3 WH, lvl fucking 20 BW.
>All of them following me to the barrel up the ladder, then they chase it when thrown in the middle to collect it.

They then start to branch out and pick up barrels, but the first wave has started and get overrun pretty quick, we even lose 2 barrels.
get up to the barrel on the pier and the ogre spawns. instantly wipes out the BW and the WH who were sucking each other off in a corner
the WW was fuck knows where but falls off an edge.
The next time I found the same WH but we had a dwarf and WW This time the WH is fucking hugging my ass all the time, but can't keep up so he gets snagged. when I help him he runs to the boat for some fucking reason starts crouching down.
The dwarf isn't half bad, he's cleared the two barrels on the far left and is going for the pier one
The ogre comes in and guess what? goes for the WH. the ogre is now wanking itself off on the boat while the rest of us get royally fucked from all angles by storm vermin trying not to damage the collection of barrels we are now waiting for the ogre to fuck off so we can get them in.

Then I did it with AI.

In my experience, bots stick on your ass unless they're fighting off a massive swarm, and then they're stuck there until every last Skaven is cold.

It's nice because you can bait the bots into distracting the swarm during an escape sequence, and just run away unopposed. The best part is that if you're lucky, the bot survives and teleports next to you once again.

I don't know about the repeater pistol but I have a repeater handgun for Soldier and it works just fine on Nightmare. Bodyshots clan rats for moving through maps quickly and deals with specials in ~4 shots. Keep in mind I have the -40% spread perk on it.

Basically, the Gey Seers during End Times decided to drag the chaos moon into a closer orbit to get extra warpstone comets and generally push up their magic.

The Clan Skryre saw that and decided to could do one better and built a huge fuck-off warp lightning cannon with the goal of blowing small parts out of the chaos moon to get ltos of warpstone comets both to ruin the surfacers a bit more and then have lots of easy warpstone to collect. Being Clan Skryre, they of course fuck it up in the most spectacular manner possible as their cannon instead stats a fucking chain reaction that blows the entire thing into pieces (causing even the freakin Chaos gods to shit a brick) and damn near flattens the entire world were it not for the Slann deciding to intervene.

They are usable if you are really good with them, but you generally wont be helping the team as much as you would with a shield and will take more damage.

They let you do a lot more damage to specials/ogres, but dealing with those is a job for your ranged weapon/other classes.

I like Witch Hunter but his default dual pistols seem medicore with such a low ammo pool. I'm not sure when to use them.

Failing that, there's the elf. I find the bow pretty boring though, so I just prefer melee, even though I know that's wrong.

BiS Cata weapon types:

All epic or at least blue

Soldier
>sword and shield
>rifle handgun

Elf:
>double daggers
>long bow

WH
>rapier
>brace of pistols

Dwarf
>hammer and shield
>DF pistols

BM
>flamesword/mace
>Conflag staff

Mods pretty much vary, some classes want only defensive on primary, regrowth is probably the better heal mod since even normies take a ton of hits, bloodlust maybe for WH only, second wind is absolutely needed on BM,Soldier,dwarf. pushback mods are great for them as well. Elf and WH with ammo capacity + is godly. BM flamesword is probably her best melee but that's not saying much since BM melee is absolutely abysmal and in cata she should really be staffing nonstop and sword to block only, with the right mods on staff she can pretty much sustain all vent dmg and heal it off very quickly.

The resistance is really just tiny pockets like the main cast scattered far apart around the city. The entire town and its garrison got fucked in the ass during the Horn of Magnus, you can see Ubersreik going up in flames and hear the fighting.

The Red Moon Inn is pretty much the only safe place in the entire city thanks to the wizard's ward spell; other safehouses are constantly being lost.

Long bow has most dmg and ammo needed since cata runs are not speedy it has enough ammo to go from box to box easily in levels.. 1H is actually just trash overall, its way too slow, and cata is all about quick blocks and quick hits for dps characters

They missed the chance to have the occasional bot join in after being rescued from under some rubble or hidden in a basement. Make them really weak, and then if you beat the level with them, >>120293105 happens. Give them new hats based on what difficulty you rescued them at or something.

LOL. TF bow has absolutely no ammo in comparison. LB has all the ammo and even more damage. TF is fine for easy to nm but don't expect to stay in a cata unless your friends don't mind you gimping them with it. cata is ALL about ammo count for WH and Elf.

only mace if it has headshot on normal hit since it seems to pretty much aim for heads when you swing it. Similar to how a rapier should have headshot on charge since that also seems to aim for heads

The shotgun blast is pretty shit tbh, LMB fireballs on conflag may not kill as many close up, but you can thin the herd before it gets to you. It has a small AOE too
