Drop 1350 on morgana. Great support, and you can practice skillshots with her Q.
1350 for Mundo, Malphite, Sion, or possibly Nasus to learn tanks. Garen is good, but being manaless will give you bad habits.
1350 on Tryndomere and 450 on Master Yi to learn splitpushing and general map awareness.
450 Ashe and Sivir to give yourself more ADC options.
450 for Annie. I think she can go mid still, but I'm not 100%. She's a good support otherwise. If anyone else wants to chime in on cheap and effective midlaners, feel free. I don't know the lane too well outside of the expensive meta picks. Don't suggest TF either. He's cheap but not friendly to new players.
Consider Nunu as supp/jungle. He's not ideal right now, but he's still decent.
Focus on champions who are 1350 or below right now. Quantity matters right now to give yourself options. Don't drop all that IP on a few expensive champions because chances are, you won't like them.
I need to clear out now for class, but take this bit of advice first:
if you're below level 20, don't jungle. If you're past level 20, drop some IP on runes. They matter. If I had time I'd ask your level and give you more specific advice, but I can't.
