Not that it isn't a terrible idea to use bolt of cata but wouldn't regrowth on a Bolt Staff be bullshit overpowered? From what I have been told it's calculated for each individual attack and bolt is a lot of individual attacks. With a decent percentage like 10% wouldn't you be able to refill your health in no time?

As of now, conflag is the absolute best choice since the RMB doesn't hurt teammates and nukes hordes, bolt staff is just way too low dmg and the name of the game is aoe in cata since even normal rats are a massive threat 4 hits or so and your downed. Until conflag gets patched/nerfed it should pretty much be the standard staff

the AI seems to do its best to not help you unless they are the only ones who can do it. I've been grabbed by a hook rat or assassin right as my team jumps off a 1-way cliff, only to have our one AI teammate teleport right in front of me, watch me get wailed on, then run back to the rest of the team. I guess the devs wanted to make it so you couldn't just solo the game while relying on the aimbot skills of the friendly AI, because once you put them in a situation where they function correctly they become absolute champs.

if you want to cata you should try and form cata parties with people, learn maps and hold up spots for hordes, basically a horde doesn't seem to last after 2-3 RMBs, BM objective is clearing out hordes mostly

i'm no good at statistics, but it seems like using the 1/3 basic dice makes the chances of getting the 4-7 orange not much better than 3t2g hard 6-7 orange

i got mostly greens and some blues from a solid night of cata missions!

i'm not saying give me the damn oranges, but the fact that most of them are shit weapons with shit traits, or even good traits with shit rolls, means that fighting this hard to even grind an orange in the first place is ridiculous

Look it up yourself if you want. The hammer hits more targets which is quite obvious due to the increase on the stat bar. Not to mention it also provides better knockback allowing you to perma-stun specials and stormvermin.

Dwarf is a better tank mostly because of size, they play pretty much the same other than ranged options.

Dwarf should always take drakefires that make him a pocket beam mage.

Empire soldier needs his handgun, a blue one can oneshot all specials but rat ogres on every difficulty.

It's easier to slash with it. The 2H hammer will stop on the first skaven you hit, and good luck getting a charge attack when you're outflanked.
With the sword, you can just stay close to the dwarf and murder everything he threw down before they can stand, while you'll be forced to use charged attack with the hammer for the same result.
And given you can't swing the hammer as quickly as you can swing the sword...

Using a mace and shield: shove, 3 normal light attacks, shield shove, maybe another shove if it seems neccessary, light attacks rinse repeat. Your job is to glue rat asses to the floor so your teammates can finish them off without getting hit. Pull out the rifle for specials and you're good to go

Personally I have a pretty easy time taking down specials with the pistols. 2-3 shots on hard kills them fine, crouch and rightclick should mean accuracy isn't a problem.
Woupdn't the crossbow be better than both for specials though, never used it.

The crossbow is probably the worst choice.

It removes you rat ogre killing power and leaves you with an ok weapon which can just kill specials.

Other classes are much better at dealing with them with stuff like the handgun, so its really a waste.

I prefer the Repeater because the burst shot is criminally accurate and, in the end, does more damage than the pistol in a shorter period of time. (As in, in a pinch it's a better weapon).

The stat shows the charged shot does less damage but that's becase it's only counting the damage of one bullet. The charged shoots 8. Even on hard, you can 1-shot any special if you get a headshot, which is not that hard as long as you have good aim.

But yeah, pistol can be capable at killing specials, but I find them to better shine at killing mobs.

I have found that it is usually good luck if the moon pie spawns on the table by the forge in the Red Moon Inn in the prep phase before a mission.

However, that luck turns to bad if you shoot the pie off the table.

It is also bad luck to kill the pigs.

Should I use my new exotic Blunderbuss with 50% reload or my blue Handgun with 95% penetration?

I've basically only used the handgun up to now and I think I might be pretty fucking dependent on being able to snipe specials from across the map, but the Blunderbuss just reloads so fucking fast it seems like it's just too good not to use.

Also, would decreasing the unlocking the decreased spread trait be worth it? Seems like it pretty counter to what the thing is actually good for.

You get a flaming sword either by getting a lucky loot roll or by leveling up enough time to get a low quality one.

so if you don't want items for a certain class, just salvage that class's shit

Wanted to play WH or BW at the beginning. But every fucking lobby has people playing it (or the elf).
Been stuck with empire soldier most games. Holy fuck I have gotten good with him. I guess it helps having a really good shield+mace as well. I'm like single-handedly saving the day over and over, popping specials like they are nothing, blocking entire swarms of rats.

I think this weapon i have with the traits are pretty nice for BW. Though i have nothing good for other classes except for a bunch of greens and blues. Would be great if rng reward me better gear for other classes.

The character selection is like an amusement park.
Waywatcher and Witch Hunter are the giant rides that run at incredibly high speeds. Everyone flocks to them because they're often the "main attractions". After waiting in line for hours to ride them, they finally get their chance for a full 30 seconds of what they think is the best thing in their life. They either end up sorely disappointed or addicted to the thrill; they either flock to some other ride or spend the rest of the day riding that same one every couple hours.

Imperial Soldier and Dwarf Ranger are those less-popular, enjoyable "indoor" rides hidden off to the side. Y'know, the ones that have you flying through almost complete darkness at high speeds, constantly twisting and turning while LED arrangements flash all around the room. I can only speak for the drakefire pistols, which have the beam's primary as their secondary (x2, visually), but that thing pierces straight through mobs to hit everything. It seems more like an AoE to me than invisible pellets.

on cata you will be taking vent damage a lot, the bm sword/mace takes about 6-7 hits to kill a single rat, which is pretty abysmal, with the right mods you pretty much never have to stop using your staff (which is a 1-2 kill) since life on hit pretty much sustains all damage, basically switch to melee when you need to block really and shove stuff away then switch to staff.

Playing in cata is very different than other game modes since 4 rat hits or so pretty much downs you. basically the idea is to avoid any rat dmg and just overvent and take that dmg, anything that reduces dmg becomes pretty nice.

i've done plenty of cata runs. taking vent damage is definitely preferable to taking rat damage, but 20% less venting damage seems extremely minor. i can't see how the tiny amount of extra damage mitigation from venting is going to be superior than something like -40% spread or +15% attack speed. who gives a shit if you took 1 less point of damage from venting when rats do 33 damage per hit?

-40% spread on a conflag staff would be kind of a deterrent lol. a/s is meh compared to the vent reduc since you'll just reach critical overheat faster, the BM throws out fireballs and flamestrikes pretty quickly as is. Its more important just to keep the burn damage as reduced as possible since you'll be taking it pretty often.

AI spawning nearby will gather around and stare at you, unable to do anything, and ignore the rest of your team unless they get close. This will also prevent some rats from spawning elsewhere during later horde horns, provided you don't kill them.

Splitting up=bad
Fire=bad
Pointy end of thing=bad
Elf=bad
Spinny hand gatling gun=very bad

Use a, s, or + space to dash (VERY important for dodging rat ogre basic attacks, can't help with the spinning though).

You use alt fire to shoot the pistol when using rapier.

Poison rats will probably murder your FPS more than anything unless you stay in the hurt.

If you "use" a grimoire you destroy it.

Explosive barrels become lit if you're hit while holding them, they're hit with an attack, another barrel blows up near them, or you hit mouse 2 while holding them.

A gutter runner is a ninja.

Do not attempt to melee a packmaster, they are designed to out-range your melee and fuck up lone wolves.

Last game a rat ogre flew through the wall to god knows where. 5 minutes later he flies back in.

A couple games before that, a gunner started shooting through a giant boulder. People got ass raped because they thought that was supposed to count as cover.

I found a... bug? in the game where you can double and triple shot with the witch hunter if you are using the rapier. I never play witch hunter but someone who does might want it.

For double shot you just fire a shot with the rapier equipped and then you quickswich and shoot when you see the ammo decreasing in the rapier ammo count.

Other way to triple shot is when you have the pistols equipped, you right click, shoot, then release the right click and shoot at the same time.

Triple shot is a little bit trickier. You have to combine the two above like this: Start with the rapier, fire a shot, quickswitch, then press right click and do the double shot above. It should come out as a shot then two shots at the same time. I made a video if anyone cares to see:
