That's not "artificial" difficulty (except for the RNG thing which isn't actually true), it's just difficulty.

A3S is at a good difficulty level; the problem is just that 3.0's gear progression makes it take so long for the average raid group to hit a level where the 5-6 decent-to-good players in most statics to carry the 2-3 mediocre players that people get burned out and stop caring long before they win.

Man we need classes to be different, not the same.
WARs shift smoothly between DPS and Tank. DRKs need to time shifts a bit beforehand. That's fine tbh.

Grit is fine. You have to think ahead a bit on how to use your MP. It's not hard nor is it something you have to do that often if you're planning ahead to begin with.

This is exactly what happened to me and my group but at the time we all chalked it up to artificial difficulty and rng/netcode/lag. I would guess that we probably had 3-4 players who were consistently pretty good, and 4-5 who COULD play very well, but were not consistent performers. Weeks of wiping after blasting through 1 and 2 with nobody getting any trophy pieces of gear in the meantime was enough the sap everyone's motivation and the group collapsed. Most of us have quit since. Same thing has happened to a lot of folks, I think, the raiding community has been decimated.

It went hilariously well, AST has just barely enough tools to scrape by on Cascade mitigation to make it if they know what they're doing.

The whole point if Grit is it doesn't cost MP or a GCD to drop.
You're ready to go from Grit to no Grit at any time, but if you fuck up on mitigation and need it back, there's a penalty.

PLD is simpler DRK:
DRK's CDs and debuffs are directly comparable to PLD's.

DRK is the more interesting of the two, but it is still heavily derivative of PLD, compared to WAR.

You seem to be under the impression that anyone is claiming that it's hard to manage, which nobody has even come close to saying.

It's not hard. It's just an excessive cost when it A) Breaks combos (which already fulfills the "you have to think ahead" quota relative to Defiance), B) consumes a GCD, and C) Costs 20% of your MP pool on the class that is actually constantly making an effort to get more MP.

Defiance is basically everything that you'd ever want and hope for out of a tank stance, in terms of stance-dancing. Paladin Oaths suck a lot in comparison, but the MP costs on them are a non-factor. Grit's only real saving grace is that DRK doesn't actually have a DPS stance and that dropping Grit costs nothing. That's a nice perk and I'd take it over PLD Oaths, but it's total shit relative to Defiance.

PLD is in a bad spot right now, due to TP problems, enmity problems, low dps, and the current endgame beign mostly magic damage. Provoke is a good spot to switch if you feel like switching tanks.

It's fine up until you hit endgame content, your Alex Savages and the like. It has less damage output and less ways of dealing with magic damage than the other tanks, and Alex Savage is all about DPS checks and magic damage. Honestly, if you're not planning on doing bleeding-edge content, it really doesn't matter much which tank you choose. Go for whatever you think is cool/fits your playstyle best.

Paladin is a good class for learning to tank, and remains so all the way to 60.

It's only once you max out that PLD meaningfully starts to underperform, and even then it's totally adequate for any content you're likely to do if you play casually.

I hate to break it to you but if you're anywhere close to "50/50" on Prayer/Parting, that is definitely user error. The timing on that is extremely generous unless you're baiting the open hand every time, and even then it's not so tight that you can't do it reliably unless your connection is actually so bad that your tanks are getting the red DC dot every fifteen seconds.

I know that the dev team is 90% the same as the people who worked on XI, but don't you think it's a bit too early to be stealing the Naakual models from XI YoshiPls? I know I saw that fucking bee, the shark and maybe the T-Rex in the trailer.

And it seems like unless the Warriors of Darkness turn out to be ancient allagan astronauts kept in stasis in an ancient allagan moonbase or something you're gearing up to basically copy the main twist in Wings of the Goddess too. Especially if you wind up copying the Fourth Spitewarden thing and going "No, player, the final WoD was you all along!!!!1111!!!!!". Hell, in XI you really just needed to know 3 Skillchains.
Distortion, Light, and Darkness, which cuts out the majority of the chart.
Those were basically the only ones you ever planned to do instead of doing incidentally for most of the game's lifespan unless you were some tryhard Samurai trying to wave your dick around with your 5 step self Skillchain that you read about on BG, or the only DDs available were just DRGs and MNKs because all of your RNGs were too busy masturbating to pictures of Annihilator and Yoichi touching.

I don't cap red scrips on any but 2 of them, and it's fairly quick because they're both level 60 miners/botanists.

Unless a patch comes out with gear you'd actually need 700+ gathering for, I don't care to upgrade them that much.

DRG is more or less safe, every good static has one for Disembowel and Litany.
Second slot is reserved for MNK or NIN, MNK for INT debuff and excellent sustain, NIN brings a little enmity support, Goad, and insane group burst potential.

Two DRG works very well, but a second Disembowel doesn't matter.

Things look way better in-game than in screenshots at my current settings. Doesn't matter if I use jpg, png, or bmp. Maybe it's just the slight downscaling that 4chan does to make large images fit on the screen, since a screenshot looks fine in a full screen preview, then has obvious artifacting in the actual thread. Mindless grinding isn't part of the gameplay. If you've done it once on your main, and just grinding when you're sleeping or at work to get it up, to play another class that's fine.

The only down side of botting is that most 60's won't know what the fuck they're doing.

Knowing them they'll probably just increase the cap and keep them working the same way, though, so they'll have to repeat the buff in 4.1.

Going by sort of what we had in 2.0, with that in place, an HQ X-Ether should recover 200 MP potency (1768 MP) and an NQ Mega-Ether should recover 100 potency, which would be a pretty big help, but I'm not sure if that would be balanced in the devs eyes.

From what it sounds like

You can meld primary stats on raid gear only. The crafted versions won't have primary stats.

STR+VIT tank accessories aren't going away, you're just gonna have to clear raid content before you can meld it, which is kind of stupid.

They're been removing depth from the game since day 1

They removed multi-slot gear
They removed light tank armor vs strong tank armor
They removed aetherial gear (but it sounds like they're re-adding it because they realized they fucke dup)

They removed str+dex affecting parries as noted

They removed classes without actually removing them probably because of Tanaka-san

They will be removing materia customization now

Any feature that requires a player to think will get removed. This game is only for braindead players. No build customization here. Only gear treadmill please.

All healers at 60. Between SCH, AST, and WHM, scholar is a lot more "fun" especially if you micro your fairy. AST is more fun than WHM but is underwhelming. WHM is just a heal bomber, that's about it.

You're mistaken, a bit.

You can only meld primary stats to natural materia slots (ie: Those with 100% meld success rates). If you overmeld for the remaining 3-4 slots, you can only add secondary stat materia.

Raid (and tomestone) gear is going to have natural (100%) Materia slots starting with 3.2, and it's currently looking like it will be impossible to overmeld that gear, so you'll be limited to one or two slots per piece of gear.

STR + VIT accessories will still exist, but they'll be limited to a maximum of 15 STR (With a Strength V materia) on a Fending accessory, or 15 VIT (with a Vitality V materia) on a Slaying accessory.

It's a pretty huge nerf to tanks overall.
