You really just gotta watch out for his dtilt, upsmash and down smash. all 3 are surprisingly strong. Everything else he just relies on running away and pestering you with shots.

He is incredibly sluggish in the air and can pretty much only attack vertically and in one direction/under him. While he is hoving he only has 2 real options and 1 extra surprise option. He can either hover until you run near him and whiff an attack, which he will retaliate by bairing/nairing you in the face, or land to regain his jumps/surprise you with a grab.
The third option is inhale, but you can react to that if you are paying attention. Its not very good and really only works once against someone who is.
What this means is, DDD cannot shield, he cant roll, and he really doesnt want to air dodge to the floor because hell get punished for that, while he is in the air, and you can abuse that fact. His backair/nair have short ending lag especially, so unless hes right infront of your face, you probably arent going to grab him without taking a dtilt to the face. But part of the reason D3 hovers facing backwards is because he can only nair or backair, his fair has horrendous landing lag and is only used in emergency situations from that position.
So another protip: Roll infront of him (Whichever way isnt the way to get backaired) when he is out of additional jumps, and he will be literally unable to hit you, and you can retaliate with a grab or something.
remember: he cant grab you from the air, so just walk under him and shield., if hes close enough when he lands you can grab him, if not, do something else.
