There's probably no achievement for it because you can't JOIN the institute, per say.

If you can side with them it'll probably just be you doing their handiwork and helping them fuck up the BoS or whatever.

Unless the BoS is working WITH the Institute, and the war is between them and the Railroad... but that seems like it'd be a bit... unfair.

Because an achievement for something like "walking 2,000,000 miles" is just a bullshit thing the devs throw in to try and artifically lengthen the game, and I also don't like having games in my steam library that don't have all achievements unlocked.

Looks kind of weird to me. They don't react to the damage itself, they don't really even fall, they just suddenly tap out and collapse into a heap.

Since ID has been helping with the game, I was hoping they'd do something similar to Rage, where enemies reacted to the directional force of the damage as well as its location on their bodies, kept their momentum if on the move and tumbled and fell believably. Seeing them respond to the damage you caused to them gave the combat a good kind of weight. Enemies would pivot 180 degrees from a shotgun blast to the shoulder, cradle the wound, then fall onto their backs from the running momentum they had. A mutant coming for you at full speed would sail right past on his stomach if you shot him mid-run.

The raiders in that clip are just instantly ragdolling after weathering countless bullets with no visible ill effects. Looks worse than even Fo3 to me, frankly.

It happens to the first guy. His head gets blown off but his body lurches forward because of running momentum. You can see those kind of effects in the videos where he's shooting molerats as well.

The reason why the second guy just flops over is most likely because he dies from the fire's dot.

ED-E doesn't mention not being able to find the outpost in Chicago and he makes his journey west so he had to have had repairs done at some point and Whitley would know whether or not there was even an outpost there to send him through, so it must exist in some shape. Just feels like a missed opportunity to not have them available for the PC in FO4 given his military/pre-war background.

Maybe they'll be a sort of overarching power structure in Boston and you choose who takes control, the the city of New Vegas.

The reason you can't formally join is because you probably end up working for them via the main quest, before you realize they've been doing bad shit. You then defect and bring them down, with whatever side faction you've sided with.

The achievements are listed in chronological order, and the way it's laid out almost makes it look like the whole "joining factions" is part of a linear step-by-step story.
Like, you join the Minutemen, then you move onto the Bortherhood, then you abandon the Brotherhood to join the Railroad, and then you finish by defeating the Institute.

The perks look like they'll all add more variety the movesets themselves, combine that with weapon customization and it just looks far more interesting.

As opposed to before when 90% of all weapons felt like wiffle ball bats.

why are we not allowed to dislike games we don't like? i'll admit i liked skyrim, but it wasn't perfect, every single quest revolved around the same thing, talk to someone, go into a dungeon, when you clear it you get something, then go back and voila, quest complete. it just seemed really repetitive. the combat was really meh, didn't feel fun at all, if you advanced the difficulty, all it did was make enemies take more damage to kill.

Flying off is even dumber, to be quite honest. The head just disappears.
It would be better if it did like Manhunt, while the head is still blown to pieces, it's only the top part of it, you still have the jaw and everything else attached instead of magically exploding.

I've never played Metro, but that's not how you loot in Far Cry as there's no inventory for you to sort through. You've got to walk over to the weapon and swap it out for one you're carrying or hold x to check the body for additional items. In any case, this isn't an FPS game (at least not where inventory is concerned) so that should be how it plays out.

Understandable, since that's what the perk would be for.

On the other hand, melee combat in F3 & NV was utter shit. In VATS, people you hit would skate away, and re-appear in their old position. Let's hope they're not just masking old bugs.

It is not weird for Bethesda to hold on information in trailers.
Fallout 3 trailer had just generic metro, generic overpass, Super Duper Market and the Capitol Building.

But New Vegas' trailer had the Khan's encampment, Outer Vegas, Black Mountain, a generic cave, Goodsprings, Nipton, the Primm casino, generic road, Freeside, the Legion Fort and Nelson, the Strip, generic wilderness, inside the casinos, Hoover Dam, Helios One, REPCONN, Vault 22...

That's my biggest problem with Bethesda's games. They make one animation set for each "race" and call it a day.

It is the AI when they are behaving the same way at the exact same time. The animation got triggered by the routine programming of the AI and having only one set of animation for 'surprised and go to alert mode' just shows how jarring it will be. Don't be surprised when you alert the whole base/dungeon/vault/whatever when you bash the first guard you see right in the face. I won't be surprised either if all their animations are exactly the same.

Usually they mask this by having different set of animations for different people, or just set the AI to have different reaction times...

Oh well..Just a quick bitching on otherwise a hopefully a good game. Was just expecting a big enhancement in all areas.

If you go good karma, you unlock dialogue asking people what became of your family. Someone with good karma is probably going to give a damn about their family. You can eventually find your wife, kid, descendants, whatever. If you go for bad karma, those dialogue options would never be available and you won't find your family because you give no shits. You could even do a cool thing where your character runs into their family member(s), but doesn't realize it's them or they choose not to acknowledge you because your a murderous asshole.

It starts in the west. After the war, a pre-war soldier (Maxson), his unit & their families formed a settlement in a US military base.
He formed the Brotherhood of Steel some time after the war.

A while later, they had some arguments with some members within and they were sent away, east, in a formation of airships.
They met a large storm and most of them were lost. One airship survived, and those BoS members formed the Midwestern Brotherhood of Steel.
They did very well for themselves, recruiting not only wastelanders, but ghouls and super-mutants. By 2277 they (the MWBoS) would've been ~100 years old.

Meanwhile, the more in-fighting in the West meant that a large detachment, including a descendant of the original founder (Maxson) were sent East, this time on foot.
They got to the Capital Wasteland, led by Elder Lyons, and took control. They killed super mutants, raiders, the Enclave (twice), and brought clean water to Washington DC.

The Outcasts were members of Lyons' group who didn't agree with certain changes he made within the structure of the faction, and so detatched and formed a "true to the original" BoS.
This time with more black and red.

The BoS back in the west (the originals) are dying off after a large war with the NCR, which they lost due to ignorance within higher levels.

There's also things like the Circle of Steel, and non-canon versions from other games, but they're not very important.

We don't know who it is in 4. Best guess is the MWBoS gone east, or the Capital Wasteland BoS gone north.

They were theoretically the same faction in FO3, but they didn't actually have mildly relatable characters. In FO2 the president was a flunky who grew up surrounded by his ideology and was just raised to think that way, the big scary guy was an experiment who was constantly in pain and a living hypocrisy and you went to boot camp and saw all the random Enclave soldiers being jackasses, but the kind of Full Metal Jacket "gooks aren't real people" jackasses that makes them despicably human rather than cartoon characters. Im just against the notion some people spout that they were overdrawn or more cartoonishly evil in 3 then in 2. I mean, they ARE kinda cartoonishly evil, but in no way any more then in 2. In both cases the first thing we ever see of them is the execution of a lot of civilians.

I hope so and i bet we will, ever base weapon can be modded. power claws, built in flame throwers, and such would be awesome. what i really want is built in weapons on the power armor like rocket pods on the chest or built in machine guns on the head. since we can mod the armor im guessing we might get that, because what else can a ton of different parts do? I hope there are a lot of parts that do different things. also we still dont know if we get power armor off of people or we just get plans. also what happens when you run out of fuel and have to leave your power armor in the middle of nowhere, or if you can have more then one.

Because the MWBoS armor is partway between East and West coast Enclave armor, and the ED-E's recordings mention an Enclave Chicago base I like to imagine the Chicago BoS found an old Enclave power armor factory that let them build new suits on demand.

Doesnt the NCR have a whole of 2 vertibirds? Seems like a single rocketlauncher in the possesion of the legion could do a whole lot of damage to your "airforce" and it wouldnt be worth risking it.
