I dont live in the anglosphere, so KJV is not a thing here. Mine is Bible of Kralice, which is first complete translation of Bible in Czech language. It's beautiful book written in beautiful language. Shame it was translated by heretics and schizmatics from Unity of Bretheren.

Ive run into a glitch on DEI 1.1 where an army on patrol can never get back out of it, had to disband

Likewise buildings seem to not want to build sometimes, both instances the click wont register.

You need to position your army well, but if you do the AI will blunder straight into them and it's hilarious. A good way to ensure they fall into one is to have two stacks working together, one weak and obvious bait, the other the ambushers. Move the bait army into visual range of the AI and position the ambush stack in front of them. 90% of the time the AI will take the bait and get fucked in the ass.

Here's a tip if you like using skirmishers. If you issue an attack order with skirmishers, and they're caught by enemy melee infantry, they'll all switch to their default melee weapons. If, however, you just let them fire at will without issuing an attack order at a specific unit, only skirmishers actively engaged in combat will switch to melee.

What this means is that in a 5 rank-deep formation, you'll still have about 3 lines shooting from behind. In vanilla combat, this doesn't really matter since any decent melee unit will cream most skirmishers quickly, but in DeI, where melee combat can take forever, skirmishers with good melee stats (like the dacian ones with good armour and defense) will be able to destroy even elite enemy melee units.

I find the game gets a little boring if I use just the best units. So by using reservists as actual reservists I guess I'm giving myself a handicap? Also it seems cooler and I get more into the game like that. I'm not going to throw away a second-class Etruscan soldier, but I might throw away some lowly reservists.

I tried DEI way back and didn't like it much, but this is the perfect level of autism for me in a mod. Big unit rosters that aren't Radious levels of retardation and feel very immersive (recruit Cretan archers in Krete, stuff like that) and the supply system actually makes military adventures cost you so that you can't just snowball across the map endlessly.

Spain sailed an army all the way to Moldova to attack the city's forts. This army was made up of 1 general and 19 militia units. Theres a mod called Age of Bronze for Rome 2. It's released but only as a custom battle mod so far, campaign is in progress. It's pretty good fun. Lots of iconic bronze age factions.

They make pretty much everything there is a source for, which isn't a lot, i think theres quite a lot of variation there. Besides it may be a Bronze age mod but it's not an autistic bronze age mod.

Also if you wanted a Bronze age mod on M2 it would have literal clone warriors.

That PC is awful. You can get a laptop with moderate graphics for a few hundred pounds.

If you have good cooling try and OC your CPU up to 4ghz, you also fell for AMDs tricks of MORE RAM on their GPUs, their actual speed is pretty shit, price on nvidia is fucking bullshit though so I don't blame you.

If you can't change up hardware then lower some of the higher demand settings like AA, unit sizes, reflections and shadows. Although I'd personally rather the game look like shit with big units so maybe not unit sizes.

I imagine it exists to make it not completely trivial to trigger a rout... but that's still stupid. If I block off all avenue of escape, the enemy should either die, or go into kill-or-be-killed mode. My men shouldn't politely step aside to let their vanquished enemy through just because they havent been given a kill order.

I've always liked his concept art as it avoids the anachronism of plate for Gondor and while drawing upon more diverse choices of culture is not simply a copy of an Osprey pic. Like that Tribal Light cavalry Variag (albeit too heavy to be light) in the link - the rider is Scythian inspired but only loosely, that phrygian helmet covering is similar to late antiquity/early medieval Byzantine and Arab stuff, the lamellar is clearly later Turkic, the scale isn't just a Scythian cuirass but does resemble one.

Their lust for money will probably see them come in a culture pack at some point, for one it's easier to reuse the human animations they've already got compared to making new shit like ogres and they're going to be in eventually too. Most of the work would be in visuals rather than the actual hard stuff in animating and such so it'd be an easy thing to churn out relative to entire new races. So yeah. Hell their relative ease might even see them come as one of the promised FLC factions.

Honestly they can probably reuse, with tweaks, the animations of Khorne Juggernauts if/when they make those for chaos daemons, they're functionally very similar being big wide heavy set lumbering creatures that can be ridden and lash out in melee themselves. Whether those animations would be any good is another question.

You wanna know what's bullshit? I was playing Napoleon earlier and was fighting two stacks. I set up my army and, since I didn't know where reinforcements would come from, I leave a sizeable reserve covering my line.

They start spawning real close to my line, so I move this reserve to attack them as they arrive. But when they make contact, not only do they move through my units, they also trigger melee combat. Both sides take heavy casualties, but the enemy's morale is completely untouched - while it is arriving (can't even be right clicked) it just stays untouched. So now my reserve, despite inflicting greater casualties, starts routing because it takes casualties.

I still won by some desperate scrambing of my forces, but took way more casualties than I should considering I had complete tactical advantage and lost some cannon since it ended up being left open for some cavalry to charge in.

I have just reinstalled rome ii. Have not played since December 2013. Tried vanilla and it seems decent enough but the graphics on e tree were a little too bright. I have installed GEM and it looks a lot better and game play post patch 17 seems more enjoyable than before.

The sword may concentrate too much on a point, too, making it likely to be deflected by an armoured surface unless it contacts at just the right angle, which is hard to ensure in a fight between people moving around. Axe will have way more crushing power on its thin but longer surface in a swinging motion, even if it may have a theoretical lower concentration of force on the perfect sword thrust.

Then again to be honest I'm pulling this out of my ass by what seems logical, could very well be wrong.

Finally I have the great Etruscan unit mod made by William. To answer your other questions, they have completely removed the flag battles and I haven't played enough of Radious or DEI to form an opinion of it.

Doesn't look like it, since Genua starts as a Celtic city and I still get Italian units defending.

In other news I poison the largest Roman army in the South and make a move on Consentia. Syracuse's days are numbered, and I'm not sure I can get to them before Carthage takes it. Veneti have also been eaten by the Dalmatae. No matter, it'll make fights more interesting later on.

If I were attacking you Id take advantage of the forest to the right and overtake the left hill at attack you from the very hill you are currently not defending. Push your right flank more onto the hill and push your left into the forest so you have the missile defense and the hill. If you give up the forest your hill isnt as defensible, it actually becomes their undoing. You want the engagement to happen right in front of you, it might come from the left or right at an angle so they can get their own hills.

I poisoned the army in Brundisium and moved a diversionary army in to raid. My other army will make a move for Cosentia since it was recently retaken from Carthage and has a depleted force. In the distance you can see my northern army coming in case the Romans absolutely blitz me.

Against all odds, our militia holds the fort against an Ottoman field army! Tough siege, and once again forts proved a worthwhile investment. At one point we almost triggered a mass rout, at which point one of our routing militia actually opened the fort gates so they could run away towards the enemy (???) and some enemy cavalry trickled in, hitting us on the flank and triggering our own mass rout. Then some enemy units rallied and broke through the breach, only to rout again further in when they attempted to storm the armory where some citizens had barricaded themselves.

I have also come to the conclusion that Suebi best euro horde faction. I always felt so monetarily poor and harrased by pretty much everyone with the vanilla hordes. This just feels comfy as fuck compared to that.

I'm always scared of some doomstack coming out of the fog and going directly for my king/emperor/daimyo.

Doesn't help that it happened once in Shogun 2 when I was moving my Daimyo to my new capital with a small escort.

One big problem with turn based games is that weaker players (like small countries) have a huge disadvantage since each movement has to be much more decisive - the commitment is huge. It doesn't help that, in these games, the player going first can often be a bad thing (like spending your money to recruit units in a city, only to have the city come under siege on someone else's turn halting progress on your decision which negates your investment). Although it can be an advantage as well I guess, giving you the initiative.
