I've kind of made peace with it. I'm not really loyal to physical or digital, though I do understand wanting the option of physical either because of internet speed or bandwidth or just because you'd like a physical copy of a game you like. I sure would have liked a psychical copy of DMC4SE without importing it but whatever.

The silver lining is as we push onward to the digital future Sony will be forced to upgrade their servers so it doesn't take 8-10x as long to download something from PSN as it does from Steam.

2ch seems to like Horizon and Gran Turismo/Driveclub news, was pleasantly surprised to see GR2, and a few people kinda got hype for Uncharted 4 and BLOPS III.

Beyond that there wasn't much interest since it was too western focused and they seem convinced the PSVR stuff will make them so dizzy they puke themselves to death.

I only played Pacific Rift and Apocalypse but I'd say try either. I personally prefer Rifts tracks but Apocalypses are more dynamic (they change from lap to lap) so if that sounds more your thing give it a try.

What was the funniest thing for you?

I'm no graphics fag, but now two titles make me scratch my head.

The first was Fallout 4. When I saw its reveal I thought it was crossgen. When they said it wasn't I was surprised. It doesn't look current gen, it looks like PS360. Even GTAV or MGSV on last gen look better.

Second is Wild. Whenever a close up occurred on a character, it look a little low detail. Almost like an indie title, which doesn't fit in since its Sony funded.

I wouldn't call any of the RE games scary but it's vastly improved over Revelations 2

The mechanics are really streamlined so you're much more limited than RE6 but it'll feel better to casual action/shooter players who want something closer to RE4 or an over the shoulder CV than something which requires actually digging into mechanics.

They did the smart thing of making uncommon enemy types almost puzzle bosses where they don't require much skill to defeat but rely on smart positioning and figuring out what their gimmick is.

I'd say it's a sold 4/5 mostly because it's a really good game but has a few rough edges and miss steps and they lean a bit too hard into the co-op gameplay. You can enjoy the game solo perfectly well but some of the best parts of the game come from the asymmetrical co-op where one of the players isn't directly involved in combat most of the time and is doing things like exposing weak spots with the flashlight.

No, Revelations 1 is full of bullet sponge enemies and forgettable characters. I'd only play it if you're a massive Jill fanboy or want to know about the t-abyss virus which will probably never get brought up ever again.

Revelations 2 is totally self contained, though it does make references to events in the mainline games and assumes you know who Barry and Claire are.

That's exactly what the GOTY version is. Sony is probably making more by repackaging it in EU. My guess is either Bloodborne is still profitable in the US, or it would be more profitable to keep the DLC digital only instead of repackaging it. Opposed to Europe where they can repackage the disc with a code.

Tempted to get Farcry 4 since it's pretty cheap now (and you can still get the Kylat Edition for the price of a regular game) but I just watched a bit of a Let's Play and saw those two stoner characters. Possibly the most annoying characters I've ever seen in a game. Are they in it much?

About half way into the game they show up for a few missions, they show up occasionally but just for a few minutes to start up a quest where they get you high and you fight hallucinations.

I don't know if you can skip the cutscenes or not but you could probably just go take a piss break or something because they're never on screen for more than a few minutes at a time.

I played FC4 a fair bit with my bro and neither of us liked the game very much. Those guys were definitely the worst part.

When you first meet them they're squatting in your childhood home and when you ask them to leave they for you and drop you in a battle den to fight for your life. Then they drug you again, strip you and drop you in a bear cave, then they start living in a tent behind your house and give you drugs to hallucinate.

Stopped playing right around there.

Well maybe platinums don't specifically reference the other trophies needed, they just go off a total number of trophies. So you put the plat in with the initial episode and say "unlock when there are 40 trophies unlocked in total". There are only 8 trophies in the first episode, let's say. Then there are 32 trophies over the next 4 eps. That way the dev doesn't need to know anything about upcoming content, they just need to decide the total number of trophies there'll be.

I'm not sure why though, admittedly I didn't own Uncharted 2 and only played a little of the MP on my roommates version before I moved and got my own ps3, but yeah, not sure what made it so much better then 3's for so many people.

I agree with this but you might have made one mistake, a common one. RE4 is widely credited as getting rid of the tank controls but it still has them. It's literally the same controls as RE1-3 but with more specific aiming and a 3D camera. It wasn't until Rev 1 that they actually fully got rid of the tank.

And yeah, the FO universe is great but Bethesda manage to fuck that up anyway, giving us this watered-down and soulless version for the most part, like Spock wrote a comedy movie.

All said and done, I'm excited for FO4 still. I've always put it down to the inherent enjoyability of that type of game coming across rather than anything Bethesda have achieved themselves. It's like a pizza, it takes exceptional inability to make a non-tasty pizza. Not even Bethesda are quite that bad.

No. Fuck off. Just keep developing that PSVR version or else it's going to flop. After reading a number of articles from people that have tried it, it seems like the performance aspect is fine and Sony have worked their magic to get VR on a home console. What they need now is just games, games, games. They will not sell it without the games.

Throw in something ultimately worthless that's pure profit (almost) for them, like 6 months of PS+. Package it with the PS4 at a cost effective price. Package it with Sony TVs for free as long as the TV costs like £1000 or more. Do deals with retailers as well so maybe they can do their own special packages - and I don't just mean places like Gamestop or GAME, I mean places like Amazon.

Also they absolutely need to get demo stations out there and get people trying it. The amount of more geeky gamers (i.e. people on forums etc) that seem to think it's basically a HMD that should cost about £80 is fucking ridiculous, never mind more casual PS4 owners. They don't even know it's a thing yet.

I've been eyeing up a PS4 for some time now, and between hearing all the things about Destiny, The Witcher 3 EVERYWHERE, MGS5 and with Fallout 4 up and coming, I'm starting to think now might be a good time to pick up a PS4. From what I can gather, I'm looking at around £300 here in the UK for one with Destiny, then I'll naturally pick up games like The Witcher 3 separately.

Amazon had a big sale too along with most major electrical retailers. The supermarkets started it I think, Tesco and Sainsburys selling those crappy 40" TVs for like £120 a pop and people were pushing and shoving eachother like cattle to get one.

Quite funny tbh, I just bought all my shit online like a normal person.

Really depends. Some of those crap brands actually use rebranded Samsung and Panasonic screens, others are garbage and not worth the money. You'll end up with dead pixels after a month, the colour and black levels are shit and you get image ghosting which is really bad.

I personally wouldn't skimp when it comes to getting a TV. I'd wait for Black Friday, Amazon will be selling Sony, Samsung, Panasonic's etc. for dirt cheap. I'm looking to get a new one myself but I'm waiting until then.

Uk faggot here, looking for a decent bundle. I don't really care for arse creed, fifa or destiny but that's all I can seem to find the PS4 with. There's the MGS bundle that I really want but it's more expensive because it's RED. As cool as RED is, I'm not sure it's wroth the like £50 extra I'm effectively paying for it.

User scores are trusted far more because most of these people have no bribe to lie. The best way to know something is up is when both are different, such as 86 to 70 is clearly tomfollery. Meanwhile Disgaea got 82 from critics and 81 from people. An example of honesty.

Most of your post is garbage, but the whole thing about the fundamental flaws of video game reviews is not some secret. There are plenty of well known sources explaining why. To sum up, reviewers want people checking their review, they need to get it out as fast as possible, and it to be something reposted over and over again.

Think about it, many sites and magazines go out of 5 or 10, not 100 like the Metacritic scores. Giant Bomb can only give a game 0, 20, 40, 60, 80 or 100. If a game is better than 80 it instantly becomes 100. Yeah it's the same percentage but it comes across differently. If user scores out of 100 happen to perfectly fall on the same number, that's quite a coincidence given that we're dealing with two totally different possible ranges of numbers here. 4/5 could be a 90% in reality, it could be a 70%. Both are either side of 80 but not low/high enough to go down to 3/5 (60%) or 5/5 (100%).

In other words, assuming everyone felt exactly the same way about the game, the user score could end up being a very specific 86% whereas the critic score would be forced towards 100 because it's going between 4/5 and 5/5, or they went for a 9/10 rather than 8/10 even though maybe they felt it was an 8.6 - actually the same as the user score.

Disgaea lining up like that doesn't remotely represent the validity of the critics appraisal, it's a score that no one actually gave it, forced into a 100 scale from a 5 or 10 scale for the most part.

Top Selling MonHun nearly sold as much as RE2, the most popular RE game.
4 just announced a week ago it sold 4 million units, nearly outselling the combined PS3 and 360 skews of RE6.
X will probably sell as much if not more than that and SF has only has one console skew and even if it's growing the PC market in japan isn't as strong as some will think.
Monster Hunter is slowly going to replace RE and SF unless one of those two games does something new, and SF ain't doing anything new.

Platinum are only helping with StarFox 0, they're not the primary developer like they are for Scaleboard and Nier Automata. And Transformers is done, while Nier is early in development.

So it's not too much considering they have nearly 200 employees.

This is the first I've heard of them working on Project Guard though but I'd assume that's the same situation as StarFox 0.

It's being primarily developed by Platinum, much like Nier and Drakengard 3 were both primarily developed by Cavia and Access Games respectively. Square only has a traditional publisher role for most of the franchise.

But I agree that it's silly that people are assuming it'll be a short game simply because it's a Platinum game. Both Taro and Taura have attempted to make it clear that its going to be more like Nier than anything else Platinum has done.

No I wouldn't recommend 4-2. Despite a few changes I liked (like the new Sphere Grid-like upgrade system), it drops Chronicle Mode (which I liked a lot) for Survival Mode which is pretty boring.

I would advise getting SW4 just for Chronicle Mode.

Sony will reveal PS4 shipment numbers for the quarter in 4 hours.
Many have predicted that there will be a big market contraction this gen, that all the consoles will fall behind their previous gen counter part sooner or later.
Nintendo shipped 0.7 million WiiUs last quarter.

So there's these two kids a boy and a girl who were separated at birth and both taken in by evil people, one a crazy knight and another a totally not Haley Quinn knockoff. Dude kills his sister, then ends up in a time bubble where I guess the god of their universe says that he kinda fucked up, send him back to where he first got tricked by the sword, but repeated the events UP UNTIL he was about to kill his sister and then realize 'oh wait you're not my mom your a sword, and I thought you were good sword?'
Then the two lived happily ever after fucking I guess because that somewhat implied.

I just saw a Battlefront ad on tv and it had the PS4 logo plastered all over it, plus it really appealed to nostalgia. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the big seller of this Holiday even though it's a multiplat.

Quick question, i was thinking of picking up a PS4 at some point over the course of the winter.

I'm looking for a console with good splitscreen co-op games (family oriented or not doesn't really matter too much, although LBP was fun on the PS3) because i hate all my friends and mostly just couch co-op with my fiance.

So I just got a new ISP complete with new router etc, tested the connection it's all fine but I can't load my friend list for shit. Everything works from whats new, sync trophies, store etc but the friend list just wont load. Already rebuilt the database and restarted the router, any suggestion? The bike DLC is actually pretty good, I was playing it last night. There's still the arcadey feel though so you can cane it into the corners and slam the brakes on without highsiding yourself.

I'm guessing PS5 won't happen. It will instead be like smartphones where updates are gradual and on the same OS. So you'll buy an ugraded version of PS4 in say 2018 that plays PS4 games in much higher resolution and framerate. And It builds like that. They'll stick to this architecture now. Some people seem to think this gen will be short again.
I doubt that, when dev time on even moderately ambitious games is like 4 years the gen will need to be long for publishers to get any games done.

Like I've said in a previous thread, the biggest challenge for the industry currently is to find a sustainable and profitable way to make AAA games.
Making a game that takes full advantage of hardware is very expensive and if you're not taking full advantage of hardware then why would you need more power?
Just look at PC, there you have a platform with plenty of power yet very few making games that really push hardware limits, because that type of project isn't nearly as profitable as a F2P game aimed at low end computers.
It's not a coincidence that one of the few games that really push PC hardware limits currently in development is a kickstarter project (Star Citizen) with 1 million+ donators and an average of $90 per payer.

Hopefully UE4 can help bring costs and schedules down to manageable levels.
They spent a ton on documentation and assistance for Japanese devs for UE4 which is why so many Japanese games uses it.
And if anyone were in dire need of efficient tools then that's the Japanese, I wonder how much money they've spent on custom engines that were supposed to be a long term asset for only to use it in one game then put it away forever.

I wonder if the skeleton people are classed as "animals" in the game since they seem to have a giant Skeleton deity at the bottom of the sea? Also some of them seem friendly from the trailer.

30 seconds into this video shows the shaman leading a group consisting of two bears, a woman and a skeleton.
If the skeletons aren't "animals" then maybe there is some kind of shaman magic to animate them.

Does this game have character customization or did they change the style for the male shaman? Because the first trailer had this bulky dude a bunch of times and I'm pretty sure he's the pretty one we've seen in the gameplay.

Either way this game rocks. Almost my most anticipated PS4 game now.
