Slice of Life Edition
Dominions is a fantasy turn-based strategy game created by two dudes. One of them is a teacher.
The game combines a simple presentation with an extremely wide array of strategic options, including over 2800 units, 800 spells and 300 magic items. Turns are resolved simultaneously, with players planning battles rather than directly controlling them.
It has simplistic graphics but is easily moddable and extremely deep.
Basically, it's an autist’s wet dream of a strategy game.

Everyone that you fight is going to be fielding anti-undead spells, and they aren't nearly survivable enough to take those to the face, which they need to be able to do since they're melee range. Then, once they do get close to something, they need to beat an MR check in order to actually kill whatever they're killing. If you have the research to cast Disintegrate, even a Spectator can do a better job of 1 shot killing things.

2) THE
3) MANUAL
You can dispel your own global through standard means (dispel, killing the caster). If you cast another global while 5 are already up, several things happen.
1) If the same enchantment is already up, go to the third step right away.
2) The global that you cast chooses one of 5 existing globals RANDOMLY, and tries to dispel it. You can dispel your own existing enchantments this way.
3) The dispel attempt happens. Spell powers of two globals are compared, and the strongest one wins. The formula is: [spell power of your spell + DRN] vs [spell power of the other spell + DRN]. If you succeed, you put your global in the place of the existing one.
Spell power is measured as follows: +1 per every gem added OVER the base cost of the spell (so Dispel cast with only 30 gems will have 0 base power), +5 per every path point in the main path the caster has OVER the needed minimum (so S5 caster casting Dispel with 30 gems will automatically get 10 power). DRN is 2d6 with exploding sixes, read the manual.

If you have an awake pretender, go for Dusk Elders, and create Spectators when there are spare gems (it also heavily depends on the way you want to get your lictors). There's almost no difference with the gem/research rate between them at Magic 1/3. Spectators can also skelespam and cast disintegrate, while revenants are just dedicated research batteries. If you have enough spare gems, you can think about dipping into revenants with lanterns though. As that would allow your main mages to participate in battles. Also, don't lose Dusk Elders. This could really cripple you in the long run.
Anonymous
Anonymous
>>120471204 Revenants are barely more efficient than Spectators even in Magic 3 dominion (equal in Magic 2 and worse at any other level). Spectators are extremely useful whereas Revenants can't do anything but research. Always get Spectators over them.

you can craft plenty of fire in a jar and use a small squad of crappy fire mages spamming fire elementals as small army.
flame spirit sounds good. and you should summon it if you don't have many fire mages around as it can cast heat from hell/warrior of musphelheim.
but 30 gems for a flame spirit is like 1000 gold if you had converted them with a philosopher stone.would you pay 1000 for an F3 dude?if more of your national mages are better than more fire 3 mages it might even be worth it to build another fort+lab and to recruit one extra mage/turn.
i am sure you know about crafting lightless lanterns, maybe you should think about trading them out too.
otherwise you can craft wand of wild fire for 15 gems which let a scout spam fireball at very low fatigue.
in a long combat 2 scouts with wand of wild fire will shit out more fire than a single fatiguing flame spirit and items have the benefit of being able to "teleport" in any lab every month.
fire snakes are not a bad summons either.
i would also suggest you to craft fire armor and helmet over the better earth/death alternatives for your least improtant thugs.

I also found that after getting a good stable of Royal Mummies, I'm buying mainly Incas and Coyas from the cap, as those are both really good and I can afford to be always buying those and keep up my other mage recruitment and other buys, while buying more mummies would leave broke.

you can get the best offensive ( w9 f9 +shit) bless but it's still gonna fall under evoblasting, even if you add hp. and the only way to fuck up evoblasting is N9 B9. your sacreds are eventually going to do damage even if they can't clear one square/turn.
but there is only so much N9B9 can do, and it's pretty boring and slow.
F9 is shit when W9 exist and you got the strenght bonus from B9. D9 is rendundant even if strong.
so i'd go with W9 as the only offensive side of the bless. it's good for everything and defense counter the counter to B9 which is troops.
the last choice is the hardest. if we wanted to get stronger at what we are we would go D9 for massive hp.
E9 would turn any summon into a good thug for 5 gems.
but all of this would leave us weak to magic negates spell such as army of rats/mass mind control or shit that fuck up us without damaging. we want to cover our weak sides, and it's still gem saved from our lategame thugs.
S9's cheat fate doesn't do shit, but it forces more gems for battlefield damage spam and allows us to use evocations without losing mages to our own BV.
so i would confirm B9N9W9S9.
i can see points for taking out N9 for D9 because " two more hp, extra damage and we can get regen anyway lategame". yeah lategame. you can't always aim for lategame. regen is cool and it has damage anyway with W9B9. regen is better for super thugs.
ultimately *it depends* on the units. low hp units with good MR woudl be better with N9D9B9W9 rather than S9.

Trading mages for that is rarely efficient unless you can really kill a lot of troops with a single mage.
Mages are also not as easily replaceable as troops. Sure you could win the war with B9N9 nation by trading mages right now, but then you'd be twenty mages/fort turns behind for the next war. I'd much prefer trading more troops which are faster to recruit or easier to summon. It might not be as beneficial in terms of gold/gem investment, but the losses are far easier to recover.

for a start i would pause 1-2 days to find a sub. if not avaible i think we can set turn timer to 48h or a little more and have him stale with the rule of not attacking/doing anything to his territories aside for scouting. he said he might come back the 6th( if he doesn't come back we search for a sub again and we AI him): that's 8 days. they can be easily be just 3 or 4 turns. if he has researchers on and recruitment on this will bring very little problems to everyone. i don't think holding the game for 9 days without doing a single turn might be a great idea because people might lose interest, but i am not against it.

So Vanarus. Earth seems like a must have on your pretender. Vyedun need Earth Boots to cast RoS (which is just amazing in MA) and you can't get more than E1 natively. It's also very easy to use a lot of hammers throughout the game. Quills are nice to kick start your research, but you'll also want to forge thug gear. Vanabogs are natural thugs, and you can forge vine shields and frost brands with your national mages. You've also got interesting astral summons with no native astral mages. An S/E pretender will also make your crystal gear and golems and so on, so it's a good combination to take. Since I'm a big fan of scales, I looked at the monolith first. While a regen bless would be nice on golems late game, it doesn't seem super useful on your low HP mage summons or elves. Going Dormant lets you take level 4 in each of the path while still having full gold scales, which is nice since the mages are expensive. An earth snake would also work pretty well, since it gives the expansion that everyone knows and loves and you can actually use the earth magic. Lacking astral is a little unfortunate, but not a huge deal since the astral summons are unimpressive aside from the utility of a flying H3. If you really want a big bless, you can do W9 for your elves, since they naturally have high defense. An Ormr will also get you the earth that you need with okay scales on a dormant pretender. If you want an N9 bless, you can also do N9E4S4 on a Monolith, but you lose some scales even with an imprisoned pretender, which delays your valuable hammers

that's a + 5, Magoth being S3F3 means you just reach 8. but we used 2 artifacts and 1 unique summon.
another way to proceed without magoth would be starting from death summoning spectres ( or hidden in X) to get astral death mages. from there we summon ether lords which are ridicolously expensive but have a 25% chance of S4( or we empower one time one of them since they are guaranteed S3).

Anonymous
>>120610821 Assuming you want to keep Astral Nexus you need to avoid the Dimensional Rod and Forbidden Light.
Both Magoth and Ashmedai start at S3, so they're one level short even if you have hat + robe + 2misc. Empower to S4 is 60 astral gems, so that's cheaper than Ether Gate, let alone the cost to get a summoner.
Now, you probably need Pazuzu to get Robe of the Magi, so that might net you Ashmedai when fishing with Bind Demon Lord. So you cast that until you get Pazuzu, and then either switch to Bind Arch Devil or keep going, depending on how many you summoned allready (and if anyone else has them) You'd need to run some pretty complicated probability math to figure that out. Then he needs a Bag of Winds, a Brazen Vessel and a Blood Thorn. Cost: (X amount of blood slaves + 90 blood slaves + 70 Air gems)
Then, you need either Crystal Coin or Tome of High Power to reach S7 so you can craft a Ring of Sorcery. You can simply empower your S caster once and have him wear Robe of the Magi (or the air booster) or you can cast a lot of Summon Spectre until you have the E1S1D1 Spectre you need. I can't be bothered looking up how to calculate that, so that's: (X amount of death gems + 20 earth + 10 astral) to make the coin, or: ( 50 air gems + 10 astral gems) to make the Tome.
Then you have to actual do the math to see if it's better to make Tome + Coin instead of Tome OR Coin + Ring. I *think* summoning Pazuzu and Ashmedai, empowering Ashmedai in Astral and Air and making the Tome and Ring (plus Robe and Cap obviously) is the cheapest option.

D7 is also kinda weird, since D6 with ring, skullface, and staff still gets you D9. I guess he can get D9 without the ring, but by the time you're ready to cast Utterdark, you would have easily been able to make a Ring of Sorcery which can then be used to get a D4 mage into Tartarian range when you're finished with your spell.
Anyways, it's not worth making shrouds for blasters with that bless.

For completeness, I'd also test with weapons of other lengths, and see if damage from poison barbs is reduced by protection. You could also try a unit with multiple length 0 weapons to see if it triggers per combat round or per attack.

>>120562834 Ea VLM is fun as fuck to play. Your nation has the magic of 'sweet fuck all', so you're running around with raiding bands and trinkets while other people are chucking around globals and shit. Yet, if you live, you'll summon your way to relevancy half the time anyway. But that period where you're literally sending guys with axes against actual evo spam is very real and very fun.
LA Atlantis are a powerhouse nation that are truly terrifying if you forget anything about 'slow and steady' and embrace the murder. Showing up on someone's doorstep with a bunch of angercocks and sacred glaive motherfuckers in like, year 1, is great. Later you do water and death stuff, which is fun, and thugs and stuff, but killing people with frogmen is the appeal of the nation.
EA Agartha is fun purely because you are riding the rainbow, and the rainbow is made of elementals. You pour elementals onto people and your entire job is to cast earthquake and kill people with elementals. Most of your wizards will be spent searching for gems to make elementals, and making elementals, and leading elementals. You shoot mind blasts from behind elementals while giggling. The trampling is real.

Skull staff can help make them relephant. Same with water bracelet. Mostly you use them to lead raiding packs of your sacreds, and to research and sitesearch.
Urdheim shouldn't a problem, glaives hard counter jotuns, and werewolves (stun damage), unless you haven't been building assartut, in which case, hah. Your angercocks are your major combat mage, you need to have every angercock in the field at all times, use the little guys for everything else. You should also be using the UW mages as battlemages. Heavy ice armour hard counters goblinswarms, there really is little Urd can do against atlantis.
